Fedora Project Contributor Agreement Draft Revision Posted (Replacement for Fedora Individual Contributor License Agreement)

Hi Fedora! Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on the Fedora Project Contributor Agreement (FPCA). We listened to your concerns, and have amended the draft slightly. Here are the key changes that we've made: 1) We removed undefined references to "free". 2) We replaced the term "electronic" with "digital". 3) Most importantly, we made several changes to explicitly address the problem of reuse of default-licensed CC-BY-SA content within GPL-covered works. (Basically, we added a GPL exception.) The full text of the revised FPCA, along with a FAQ, can be found here: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Legal:Revised_Fedora_CLA_Draft Fedora Legal wishes to give the Fedora community a window of time for discussion and review of the revised FPCA. Due to the fact that the changes are relatively minor, and the original draft has been open for comments for some time now, this second window is open until June 4, 2010 (2010-06-04). After that point, either another revised FPCA will be released for review, or we will begin the process of phasing in the FPCA and phasing out the Fedora ICLA. CVS branches for F-11 closed

Hi All, Since Fedora 13 was released today new CVS branches for F-11 will not be allowed. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackageMaintainers/Policy/EOL lists the policy in effect this means that F-11 is now in a maintenance only cycle, with EOL fast approaching, the EOL date was set to June 25th by FESCo ( http://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora- meeting/2010-05-25/fesco.2010-05-25-19.00.html ). Provenpackager and Sponsor guidelines change

Greetings. At today's fesco meeting we approved a change in the way we handle provenpackager and sponsor nominations. Old policy: - Candidate files a ticket in the fesco trac instance. - FESCo chair sends a email to sponsors for feedback. - After a week FESCo looks at feedback and votes at their next meeting. New Policy: - Candidate files a ticket in the fesco trac instance. - FESCo chair sends an email to sponsors. - After a week, if more than 3 (three) sponsors provide positive feedback, the candidate is approved. - If the candidate has any negative or veto votes, then FESCo looks at feedback at their next meeting and votes. Fedora 13 Release Candidate Phase

Fedora 13 has released Release Candidate stage. We have reached a state where the known blockers were fixed and were able to make a release candidate. This happened last Thursday, and almost immediately we found a need to spin a second release candidate. From this point on, only items critical to the release will be tagged into the branched Fedora 13 repo. I'm currently doing the first push of Fedora 13 stable updates. These will be what we call "0-day" updates, that is updates available at release time. Things in the bodhi update system for Fedora 13 can now be pushed "stable" to this updates repo. This allows our maintainers to continue to improve Fedora 13 as release engineering and QA finalize the release bits. If you have a bug that you think is critical to the release of Fedora 13 and must be fixed on the media, please make your bug block "F13Blocker". We will be reviewing the contents of this blocker bug frequently throughout the days as we near our go / no go decision. In anticipation of nokia's plans to ship a separate qtwebkit, we've split this out into separate packaging in rawhide's qt-4.7.0-0.10 (and newer) qt-webkit qt-webkit-devel So, if you have a package that needs this at build time, you will now need to use (preferably): BuildRequires: qt4-webkit-devel or BuildRequires: qt-webkit-devel To ease migration, I also added similar Provides: to qt-4.6.2-18+ builds for previous releases, which will be issued as updates at earliest prudence. -- Rex
