Hide the kittens and the babies, a message from your friendly KDE-SIG
by Steven M. Parrish
For those brave souls still running or trying to run rawhide just wanted to
let you know that KDE is broken. As we speak most Qt based apps will just
crash with a message about a missing symbol. To top that we are also
preparing for KDE 4.4 beta 1; so don't expect a quick resolution, in fact
things will get worse before they get better. Look on the bright side, F12 is
rock solid, and with your patience F13 will be even better.
We are shooting to have everything fixed by Monday the 30th, so please bear
with us as we work to bring you another great KDE release.
Steven

Notification of uploads to the lookaside cache
by Jon Stanley
As part of our ever vigilant stance towards security around our
packaging process, we have added a new feature to upload.cgi (which
accepts file uploads into the lookaside cache) which will email the
package owner (<package>-owner(a)fedoraproject.org, specifically) and
fedora-extras-commits(a)redhat.com whenever a file is uploaded to the
lookaside cache. Previously this was a big black box and an area of
concern.
The message will contain the name of the file, the package concerned,
the md5sum, and the user that uploaded it. An example is below:
File upload.cgi for package sportrop-fonts has been uploaded to the
lookaside cache with md5sum 26489f9e92601f0f84cfbb278c2b98e1 by
jstanley
Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or room for improvement!
Thanks!

Bug Triage workflow for F13 and beyond
by Steven M. Parrish
Today we celebrate another successful Fedora release (F12), congratulations to
everyone.
Never one to sit still development has already begun on F13, and with it comes
a new bug triage work flow.
For bugs filed against F13(rawhide) and beyond the keyword "Triaged" will now
be used to indicate that a bug report has been triaged. BugZappers will no
longer change the bug state to ASSIGNED, that will now be left in the hands of
the package maintainers.
BugZappers will still be using the NEEDINFO flag and closing reports as
duplicates.
The wiki will soon be updated to reflect these changes.

Broken deps for rawhide the past few days
by Jesse Keating
Many of you received emails over the weekend and this morning regarding
broken deps in rawhide. If these emails mentioned that the deps were
broken on ppc or ppc64 they can be ignored. We are no longer producing
ppc/ppc64 as a primary arch, however we forgot to tag the config change
that enacted this on our compose tools. We were attempting to compose
ppc(64) trees with only noarch packages, and well things didn't work so
hot.
We should have this fixed today so that future emails about broken deps
will be about actual broken deps, not broken configurations. Sorry for
the mailbombing.

Fedora 12 staged for mirrors, rawhide moving on soon
by Jesse Keating
I have just staged Fedora 12 for our mirrors. We're doing something a
little different this time around. The releases/12/Everything/ tree
will be open to the public as it gets staged. This will allow us to
give people who have "Fedora 12" installed now access to the "fedora"
repo. We will then be able to move rawhide along to Fedora 13. The
Fedora/ and Live/ trees will remain locked until our release date.
On this Saturday or Sunday rawhide will have Fedora 13 content. Users
of rawhide right now do not need to do anything to keep on Fedora 12.
Unless you have modified your /etc/yum.repos.d/ files, you will stay on
Fedora 12 as we transition. Those of you that wish to move along to
Fedora 13 rawhide will need to modify your fedora-rawhide.repo file and
keep it enabled, while disabling fedora and fedora-updates repos.
Thanks again to all of you who have helped make Fedora 12 the great
release it is about to be!
