The gnome-shell package should probably obsolete the assorted fallback mode components that have been removed from F19 (and will likely cause dep problems on user's systems if they remain.)

Good idea. Just don't obsolete anything that has been picked up by others for a life extension... off the top of my hat, I can think of
metacity - still used by anaconda / firstboot gnome-panel - can be obsoleted, I think notification-daemon - was picked up by somebody ?

notification-daemon was picked up py Dan Marshal.
What about sysems with multiple desktops installed? LXDE still uses notification-daemon.
