I ran another yum update,  and now kernel panic's are gone! :))

However,  the gfx issue remains, here is a screenshot.

remember, this is a T40 IBM laptop with ATI 7500 class graphics chip, are these STILL not working in linux??

I thought those older ATI issues were fixed...
