Shouldn't it be in /etc/grub.conf, not /boot? That's where it is on my
machine.
On my machine /etc/grub.conf is a symlink to /boot/grub/grub.conf, so I
guess it doesn't really matter which one you're looking for.
What does 'rpm -q kernel' tell you? That should list all installed
kernels.
