Actually I'm pretty interested in testing out 3.12 as there are some features I really want.  If I add the COPR and update can I safely roll back again?  Could you write out a procedure for how to do this as I've never used COPR's before.

For anyone who stumbles across this thread later:
The issue was that I had private copies of the older extensions in my
~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions directory due to previously
having updated them via extensions.gnome.org rather than RPM. The
.local copies are preferred over the system copies, thus leading to
the breakage I was seeing.

If you're hitting issues like I was, check that path and delete any
extensions that are supposed to be handled by RPM.
