I think openSUSE at least can't handle dual-boot with Fedora LVM, and
its installer attempts to wipe away Fedora instead of installing
nicely alongside it like it does for other Linux distros. But it's
been a while since I've tried it, so it's possible I am misremembering.

You have strong points in favor of LVM.
I guess the most significant downside is the very poor support in
GNOME Disks.
