GTK clipboard problems
by Warren Togami
Since around RH7.3, I remember gtk2 applications would sometimes be
unable to copy & paste between each other after long runtimes within a
GNOME session. Sometimes it would take a week of using GNOME without
relogging for this problem to manifest. Copying from GTK2 to kedit and
back to GTK2 would work, but not GTK2 to GTK2. Select and middle-click
would also fail. Then *something* else I do on the desktop makes the
behavior go away, and clipboard begins working properly again.
Today using FC3, I this problem still exists today.
Do other people experience this problem?
Is anyone aware of an upstream bug tracking this issue that has more
substance than my useless description above?
Thanks,
Warren Togami

Where is that now?

vsftpd
by Ahmed
Hi Listers!
Has anyone installed VSFTPD on fedora or Redhat 9! If yes how can I create a user with their password. Remember I need the instruction from the comman line not from the graphical user interface!
Thanks in advance as always!

Is it possible to start only one app in GUI GNOME or KDE or other?
by Edilmar Alves - Lista
Hi,
I have a Fedora Core 2 Linux + VNC Server (running into xinetd).
Then, the users may connect remotely to this server and run an app
that I put into desktop (shortcut). But the users have access to other
apps like OpenOffice and Mozilla, and I want:
1) the user may logon and the app starts automatically. Where do I do this?
2) none taskbar, console, etc, the app must start using full-screen,
with no way to change to other apps like Alt+Tab shortcut. Is it possible?
3) the GUI must be light, I'd like to use some GUI with lower resources
than GNOME and KDE. What's the better for this case?
4) the users may be in slow links, I think to use in the future
softwares like FreeNX, and the GUI must be really with low graphical
complexities...
Thanks for any suggestions...

Start automatic app after login
by Edilmar Alves - Lista
Hi,
I have Fedora Core 2 with GDM default login.
I didn't find what file I need to create/alter/configure to start a
application after login. I know apps like Nautillus or Terminal that I
don't close when logging out are automatically open after login. But, if
I have other executable program or a script that I have to start, I
don't know how to configure.
Thanks,

Fw: Info on Fedora 3

Subject: Info on Fedora 3
I dont know if this is the right place to be to answer my problem
Basicly I am looking for some info on Fedora 3s capability with adsl via a Thomson Speedtouch 330 USB modem.
First some background, I was sick to death of Microsoft continually telling me there was a problem and had to shut down my internet connection, I made some tentative enquiries about Linux and eventually purchaced SUSE 9.1. This worked well on my dial up access and after a three month "Try Before Commiting" period, I took the big jump and transfered my working files to Linux (THANK GOD I KEPT COPPIES AND BACKUPS FOR WINDOWS), the next part is not the fault of SUSE, my major customer (I am self employed, working from home), gave me an ultimatum, GET BROADBAND or A NEW JOB, I got broadband. Suse refuses to work with my modem. Been all over the web and SUSE help places, big joke. "One SUSE expert" told me that Yast Online Update would solve my problem !? another pointed me to the Novel "Pay a lot of money for help web site. It cost me around £600 and a lot of time to have my files reinstated to Windows and since the XP SP2 has arrived I have had very few problems. I still hate Bill Gates and his money grabbing cronies but is there any point in continuing with Linux. Please dont use the easy answer of "Get another modem" as that simply defeats the purpose of using an alternative operating system.

Thunderbird 0.9 RPM
by Andre Meyer
Hi all
Finally, we have Thunderbird as (default) email client in FC3. But it is version 0.8, while 0.9 has been available for a while. Where can the RPM for version 0.9 be downloaded. None of the familiar places has it. Why is this so? Maybe the solution is just too simple for me to see ;-)
thanks and kind regards

RPM update error messages and mirrors
by David R. Wilson
I noticed a number of updates were available for FC3 for several days
and were not propagated to the mirrors. Also I saw several error

Since the gui update routines might not display this, I figured someone
might like to know. This was also one of the updates that the
mirrors.kernel.org has not seen yet (at least not that I could find).
I am assuming the error messages were for routines that were not
installed on this system in the first place. Anyone have a clue bat?

Suggestions? FC3 on x86_a64
by David R. Wilson
Hello fellows,
If there is a better list for this subject, please let me know.
I have a system (good paperweight so far) with an Asrock K8 Combo Z
motherboard (Athlon 64 based) and I have not been able to get networking
up on the box. From doing some surfing I found it looks like it should
work with the SIS900 routines, however I have not had any luck at
getting things working. I have also tried a Linksys DFE-530TX+ card
with the 8139too drivers with the same problems.
lspci and /proc/interrupts attached.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
