Hello everybody!
I found that Gimp in Fedora has less functions that in other distributions (like Fuduntu or Ubuntu). In example, I can find video and animation edition, and a lot of scripts.
Why is this happening? How can I solve it?
Thank you very much! Lailah

You're probably watching tutorials that have plugins installed. We have a lot of plugins available for Gimp in Fedora, but you have to install them. Do a 'yum search gimp' to see everything and install the ones you like. You can also install Gimp plugins from here:
Hope it helps, ~m

Didn't we used to have a gimp fx-foundry package? What happened to that?

Also, FWIW, it looks like there are only a handful of packaged GIMP plugins:
* https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/gimp-resynthesizer * https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/gimp-lqr-plugin * https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/gimp-fourier-plugin
I personally, am up for helping fixing this, but we would probably need someone to give us a helping hand on the packaging process :)
cheers, ryanlerch

Oh those plugins, I am adding them as part of design suite.

The only one I can remember specifically from before (they don't show up in the packages app anymore) that isn't packaged now is:
* MathMap - http://www.complang.tuwien.ac.at/schani/mathmap/
FX Foundry got 'disbanded' - there's a huge mass of scripts that it was comprised of - http://gimpfx-foundry.sourceforge.net/browse26/index_name.html
Looks like a lot of them are not 2.8+ though. :( However I found this script pack that has some of them updated to work with 2.8:
* Updated FX Foundry - http://registry.gimp.org/node/25858
Others that would be good to have, although I don't know about any of their 2.8 compatibility.
Does anybody have time to run through and test them against 2.8?

The pages for each should have instructions, but generally you install a gimp plugin by unpacking it into the 'plug-ins' directory in your .gimp-2.8 folder in your home directory.

Thank you very much to all! Now I have more plugins, scripts and brushes than I ever had.
I'm very happy :-D Lailah

Did you test all of the ones in the list or just those three? Animation scripts wasn't in the list, was it?

I think we stopped carrying that in F17 because it isn't compatible with Gimp 2.8x, only 2.6x. (Although if you force it, which I do, it works but it's very complainly!)

Hello!
I've install FX-Foundry directly from the web and I have no problem with them. Ídem with Registry plug-ins. Maybe making a selection and package it?
Just an idea... Lailah
