Just an FYI that this is done and has already gone to the printers - but I think if ian could work with design to perhaps make this something that is easily copyable / repeatable by others for future FUDCons, it would be a great idea.

I forgot about this in the midst of the FUDCon stressola. I'll take care of this action item this week.
Topic: FUDcon Tempe Print Guide
• Ian Weller wasn't in the meeting but mizmo will start a thread to discuss the design • https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:Tempe_2011_packet • http://ianweller.fedorapeople.org/fudcon-tempe-booklet/ • One idea so far is to incorporate Emily's t-shirt motif in the booklet design: http://emichan.fedorapeople.org/FudconTempe/hohokam_lg_logo.svg
I actually had to get this to the printer yesterday. The final PDF files are still in the fedorapeople.org directory above. I did most of this stuff in #fudcon-planning instead of #fedora-design just because that's where most of the people I had to force content out of were.
There's a blank space on page 3 under the table of contents, which is there for a reason. Because we're printing these booklets so early so that I could have them done in Salina in time before I went back to KU, we have a lot of last minute information or possible last minute changes, which we will try and print on a label about that size and stick there. (Robyn has the correct size Avery labels in her general FUDCon Amazon shopping cart.)
By the time I got all the content finally in there wasn't much room for incorporating a lot of the design stuff from Emily's SVG, which I'm sorry for :( I should've played a little with the cover but I just ran out of time. Print production a deadline is harsh.
Once again, I apologize for not having had enough collaboration with the Design Team on this project, and waiting to come in until the last minute saying "here I did stuff!"... something I need to improve on personally. :)
What *is* reusable there is a general layout for future FUDCons in different regions, as well as the Makefile which handles all of the RGB to CMYK conversion for you (with a giant block of sed expressions). I'd like to fully document the process, but it wouldn't be hard to create even a Bash script (more likely Python) to take an RGB EPS from GhostScript (Inkscape -> eps2eps; Cairo EPS output is sometimes unpredictable) and output a CMYK EPS or PDF. (The print shop ran me a proof as I gave them the CD with the files, and the colors came out beautifully, BTW!)

I'd just like to say that I think you did an excellent job on these. I looked over them a couple of times but simply didn't find anything to bug you about. ;)
Looking forward to seeing the real version!

Hi Mairin,
As per the above action items, my observations for the anaconda UX_Redesign are embedded in the following modifications. See [1] & [2] below. There are other notes I needed to make but I thought the image annotation site would be better for that.
1. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/File:Anaconda-location-mocks-mod-01.png 2. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/File:Anaconda-location-mocks-mod-02.png I like the idea of a visual representation of the keyboard layout. Will the image change to reflect changes on the layout listbox?
As per the Mailer, I posted the updates on Saturday (last week) being the 15th. Here are the links: 3. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/File:Freemedia-mailer.svgz 4. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/File:Freemedia-mailer-front.png 5. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/File:Freemedia-mailer-front%2Brestrictions.pn... 6. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/File:Freemedia-mailer-rear%2Bcover.png

I think these are good ideas, Oku! I like the symbolic icon in the time one, and the map is a nice affordance in the country / language selection. However! Country borders can be politically-charged and since they change over time it might be pretty difficult to maintain. Maybe we could do them at a continent or at least larger-than-country expanse of area though. For example:

Sigh. sometimes Evo thinks Ctrl+V means send...
Anyway for example:
We handled it at a very granular geographic area for that site to avoid any political upset and it hasn't seemed to cause any issues.
RE: the keyboard image... yep, it works like that today. It updates the labels on the keys and the layout to reflect what you chose. You can give it a whirl:
System > Preferences > Keyboard
then hit the 'Add' button on the layouts tab. It's not easily-discoverable, but the keys even light up when you press them (you have to click on the image first though.)
Thanks for the feedback Oku, you're really on top of things!

cool! :) Did NOT know that was there all the while
Hope you noticed the Time 'spinners' ... made them all same height. The first one looked out of sync with the PM/AM list-box (or spinner). I think the overlay should be sizeable enough to cover the texts at the rear ... *OR* ... the text should be arranged taking cognizance of the overlay that will appear over it. Its odd to see bits of texts sticking out.
Again, the 'Cancel' and 'Apply' buttons should align with the 'Back' and 'Next' Buttons in a grid ... or else the 'Apply' and 'Back' buttons should be vertically aligned (then the others can stay). I hope you get what I mean (using the Country UI as a point of reference)
I think that's the much I noticed. Hope that helps. RE: the fedorapeople space ... nah! I didn't. I give it a shot in a few minutes. Of course, I'll be sure to alert you when I hit a wall :)
