Emergency
by Fabian A. Scherschel
Hi, all! I bathed my latop in coffee tonight and will have to let it dry for
48hrs. This completely ruined my schedule for this week and means that I
won't be able to make the meeting tomorrow. Since I am aware of the fact
that I need to sort out the supplemental wallpaper votes, I will hit the IRC
Wednesday during the day to try to sort this out. Could anyone collect the
votes for me tomorrow and relay that info to me on Wednesday? Mo maybe? That
would be awesome!
I currently only have email on my phone and limited IRC, so please bear with
me till Wednesday. Thanks!
Fab

Re: [Design-team] Supplemental Wallpaper Submission Voting
by Jakub Steiner
Happy choosing, everyone! :)
Howdy!
Very happy to see some quality submissions. Here's my picks (unordered):
* Magic Forrest - very calm tone that more than supplements the high contrast which would otherwise be a problem. I would add a bit of vignetting.
* The Sound of Decadence - while some may consider the link to a dead old technology be a negative thing for Fedora, visually it is such a an awesome wallpaper.
* Oregano - after cleaning up with the clone tool. They do it to models, plants should not be spared.
* Tiny flowers - again, the calm mood compensates for the higher contrast I think.
* Seneca - love the colors. The center crop kinda divides the screen in half. Still loving it.
* Turning and Turning in the Widening - Spacy. Fedora.
* Levander Kiss - Very saturated yet still usable.
* Glitter Bokeh - would be a good base to play around with.

FUDcon Zurich roll-call!
by Máirín Duffy
Who's going to be at FUDcon Zurich from the design team?
I am going and Sandro thought it would be cool if all the design team
members present ran a workshop. What do you think?

Plymouth theme (boot splash) in F14
by Martin Sourada
Hi everyone,
since we switched to generic (instead of release specific) theme for
plymouth, I've never particularly liked it but it I haven't exactly
disliked it either. Not anymore with F14. The
throbbing-and-loading-at-the-same-time fedora logo with great amount of
rendering glitches is just a sore in the eye and gives a really bad
impression to our users. I'm not sure if it's intentional or a bug, but
either way, it needs fixing.
Personally I'd prefer switching to spinfinity theme. It's simple and
professional looking and it does not have any rendering glitches (tested
myself on F12 and F14).
Any thoughts on this?
Btw. this mail [1] on test list prompted me to not keep silent about it
anymore...
Martin

Introduction and f14 wallpaper concepts
by Federico Cáceres
Hi, my name is Federico Cáceres (as you might have guessed by the email
headers) and I'm a computer science stundent in the "Universidad Católica de
Asunción" (Catholic University of Asunción) at Asunción, Paraguay . I'm
currently working on my final thesis project, related to HCI, but on my free
time I love messing around with design-related stuff. I have been doing some
design ever since the Corel 4 days, and in the last years I have also done
some freelance work. Obviosuly, now my weapons of choice are primarily
Inkscape, Gimp and Blender!
Enough introductions, I have been searching around for F14's artowrk
progress and I found the current concept very interesting, and considering
we are still on alpha stage, I thought I could mix up the current concept
and share my experiments with the community. I just thought of changing the
perspective a bit (maybe adding some focal blur), making lines more parallel
and working a bit with the colors.
Without further ado, I present you my wallpaper tests:

http://picasaweb.google.com/fede.caceres/Fedora#5504734817030122466
(The last two might have a bit of dizzyness factor... sorry guys...)
They all are simple modifications on Kyle Baker's concept, Blender was used
for most of the work (all shapes and blur were done in Blender), GIMP was
added to the mix only for some post-processing on the colors.
Hope you find these interesting.
Regards,
Federico.
