So as we discussed on IRC. Attached is a draft of some guidelines for
artwork submissions and specifically desktop background contributions.
Parts of it are derived from the existing guidelines . I'm hoping
this will help us:
* Clearly define the legal rules for submitted works
* Give some more explicit guidance to potential contributors
* Establish some general guidelines to frame the decision making process
What do you think?
I'm reminding everyone that we'll be holding an IRC meeting tomorrow.
The TPO are:
* Mon 2009-08-10 UTC 16:00; to convert to your local time use
$ date -d '2009-08-10 UTC 16:00'
* #fedora-design at irc.freenode.net
* F12 Theme Selection
If by any chance I could not be present (my inet connections has been
somewhat bumpy lately), please someone step in and moderate the meeting,
and let me know afterwards about the results so that I can update the
packages. Once again reminding, if you cannot make it to the meeting,
make your opinion known in the thread entitled '[F12 Artwork] Final
Wallpaper Concept' so that it will be considered during the meeting. We
hope the meeting to be short and in a friendly manner :-)
it's about time we discuss which of the three wallpaper
concepts will be used as a base for the Constantine theme. Please bear
in mind we are not comparing how evolved each of the designs is, but
rather checking the potential of the design. We want a wallpaper that is
both nice and suitable for default, not a wallpaper that's awesome and
cool but you cannot discern icons/text on half of it. I suggest that
people raise their reasons for and against choosing one or another in
this thread and we hold a (hopefully) short IRC session next Monday
(2009-08-10) to make the final decision. Would 16:00 UTC be a good time
Don't forget to take into account e.g. the progress that's now happening
in another thread about mosaico and any other updates to the mentioned
Hi Design-team, Echo Perspective artists!
My name is Kris Thomsen, I'm 18 years old and from a little country in
Northern Europe called Denmark. I have used Linux since 2005 and this year I
started to contribute to Fedora - as it is my favorite. I'm the Danish
translation maintainer, but now I am almost finished all the translations
for Fedora 12 and want another little side-project to contribute to. I have
chosed Echo Perspective, as I really liked the first icons Martin S. made.
I am new in this area (art, icons and Inkscape) and have worked on the
user-desktop icon today and I am now confident enough to show it to you ;-)
Please come with comments on this icon - I hope you like it.

I'll be representing our team at this meeting, so let me know if you
have any design-related concerns regarding the alpha release that I
should bring up.

The scripts that allow wallpaperr to change in realtime depending the
day hasn't been used since Fedora 9.
It would be nice to try it again. Comments?
