Comment (by lennart):
Coredump collection in the journal is not enabled in Fedora. We can
reconsider this at some later point.
The Journal's coredump hook is written via sysctl relatively early at
boot. Since abrt is a normal service (and hence started much later) this
means, even if we'd enable the journal's coredump collection in Fedora,
abrt would be in charge as soon as it is started and patches core_pattern.
And that's intended that way, i.e. we want the journal's coredump
collection only be the fallback if people haven't installed anything else
yet.
We are working on adding journal-based activation (i.e. that a service is
activated as soon as a message of a certain kind is written to the logs),
and at the same time we want to add wakeup sources so that clients can
continously monitor the logs, but are only woken up if a message of a
certain kind is received. We expect to have this in time for F19.
