Fontana, I'm answering your add-on query from the other thread over on this
thread, as this is replying to your contemporaneous HBR cure.
Richard Fontana wrote back in February 2020:
I can only really remember one discussion I'd consider possibly
substantive, which took place in a noisy bar following CopyleftConf on
Monday 3 February. This was a conversation with bkuhn and a few other
individuals whose names unfortunately escape me or which I did not know to
begin with. This was basically a continuation of the discussion bkuhn had
started some time ago on this mailing list, pointing out some potential
flaws in the current implementation of what some are now calling a copyleft
equality clause. I'm not sure any truly new ideas or problems were brought
up in this conversation. Perhaps bkuhn or, if they are on this list, any
of the other participants in this conversation can remember more.
Today Fontana asked again:
Meanwhile, since I have your attention, bkuhn, there was at least
one
Hindering Backchannels Rule (HBR) cure I was supposed to do based on at
least one discussion we had in the past. One was following CopyleftConf in
early 2020 but I think there was an earlier one from April 2019. Anyway I
can't really remember what we talked about so I think these HBR violations
are not curable, unless you remember.
I have handwritten notes from early 2020. As everyone knows, this was right
before the pandemic started so it was a weird time. I may well have lost
track of those handwritten notes. Also, they may well be in buried in my
suitcase which I haven't used since that conference (😲 !). If I find the
handwritten notes, we can cure that one.
I'm a bit frustrated with myself in fact that I can't remember what we
discussed, as I recall we came up with a useful idea regarding the copyleft
equality clause that might be worth implementing. I remember you saying to
me “Hey, so did you understand that?” and I said that I did and that I'd
written it down, but if I can't find those handwritten notes, I think we'll
have to figure out the solution from scratch again.
I remember Ben Cotton was there … does he maybe remember? If someone can
tell me what type of paper I was writing on, that might even help as I know
what to look for. I don't throw things away lightly so I suspect I have it
somewhere …
As for the 2019 one, I dunno.
