Hi Justin! It's ok! I'm busy too these days. I'll take some time to explore the things in the toolbox and i'll try to acquire the Bootstrapped budges. I'm also reading the packaging guidelines because i want to include some additional software in fedora. Because it's always better to start small, i will take it slow. Anyway, i'm here to stay so i'll take some time to do my research about the project. I don't know if i can join today's meeting but i will certainly stay in touch. My irc nick has also changed from HalleBopp to anazli9. Cheers!
Sounds like a plan, Andreas! Definitely take things on at your own pace, there's no requirement to do a thousand things at once as soon as you raise your hand to help. :) If you have any questions, always feel free to ask!
And it actually works out because we skipped this week's meeting. We'll resume as expected on December 20th. Hope you can make it then!

I want to join the project in order to expand my knowledge, acquire new skills and of course to help the community. I am a computational physicist, i have a basic knowledge in c/c++, python, fortran77, latex, matlab/octave, git and some machine learning. I'm currently searching for a job. Finally, regarding CommOps, i'm interesting in metrics. I have no previous experience with any FOSS project, so some guidance would be helpful. Hello, and welcome, Andreas! Sorry for the slow response to get back to you, December has kept me busy. We're glad to have you here with us in CommOps! Sounds like you have some good experience working with a variety of languages. I'm happy to hear that this is your first FOSS project to contribute towards! That's a big milestone and I'm glad it can be with Fedora. Before getting started in CommOps, it will be helpful for you to explore the Fedora community a bit and see how all of the different parts fit together. Our "Join" wiki page outlines some of these steps, and if you haven't seen this page yet, definitely check this out and use it as your guidelines for getting started. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/CommOps/Join <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/CommOps/Join> One of the things I would recommend trying to do is working on acquiring the "Bootstrapped!" badges series. Fedora Badges are a fun way to get badges for doing things in Fedora. There are many good ones that will help introduce you to Fedora. You can learn more about Badges and see the Bootstrapped series below (the ticket URL has a list of badges that are good ones to get first before others): https://badges.fedoraproject.org/about <https://badges.fedoraproject.org/about> https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-badges/ticket/409 <https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-badges/ticket/409> Metrics are definitely one of the things that we help work on. At Flock, the annual contributor conference, we generated some ideas for the types of metrics we wanted to try to find. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/CommOps/Metrics_Ideas <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/CommOps/Metrics_Ideas> We have a toolbox of tools, services, and programs that can help us generate metrics in Fedora. I encourage you to explore some of the things in our toolbox and try to become familiar with some of the tools. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/CommOps#Metrics_2 <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/CommOps#Metrics_2> Bee might be able to offer more specific info about metrics or about things we could use some help on. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out! We're always happy to help answer any questions while you get started. Again, welcome aboard! -- Cheers, Justin W.
