Random things re Hubbot
by Marius Vollmer
Hi,
I did a tiny amount of hacking on hubbot and wanted to share the state.
It now runs permanently on files.cockpit-project.org and works on new
and updated pull requests. (But it doesn't use github events yet...)
it has a whitelist of users and wont touch pull requests created by
people not in that list.
It will add statuses to the commits it is working on, right next to
Travis.
The link in the status goes to a directory with the checked out Cockpit
sources. There is a "hubbot.log" file in there that contains the
ongoing output of the test run.
Other interesting files are "mock/root.log" and "mock/build.log".
Hubbot rebases the head of a pull request onto master before running
VERIFY.
However, it doesn't recognize when master has changed since the last
run, and there is currently no way check what master was when hubbot did
the rebase. So, some tiny amount of hacking left... :)
The integration tests are of course still brittle. If they fail
spuriously, hubbot will not retry automatically. You can manually reset
the hubbot status of a commit to "error" and then hubbot will retry the
next time it looks at the pull request. (Ask me how to do that if you
need it.)
For those with accounts on files.cp.o: check hubbot.service.

New network config for integration tests
by Marius Vollmer
Hi,
we are still fighting with the regressions caused by my careless test
image updates.
We had to change the configuration of the virtual "cockpit" network used
by the tests to avoid some weirdness re DCHP.
You need to destroy it and create it again. As root:
# cd .../cockpit/test/
# ./vm-prep -u
# ./vm-prep

check-docker and check-realms broken on master, sorry
by Marius Vollmer
Hi,
I have updated the integration test images without properly testing
them, because, hey, what can go wrong?
This is the first time I made the images on the machine we want to use
for CI testing, but running the tests on it has some issues in general,
so I missed these real regressions. Sorry.
I'll fix this 'asap'.
For the time being, check-docker is known to produce this output:
Unexpected journal message 'audit: type=1400 audit(1420788460.917:4): avc: denied { add_name } for pid=901 comm="docker" name=".docker" scontext=system_u:system_r:docker_t:s0 tcontext=system_u:object_r:root_t:s0 tclass=dir permissive=1'
Unexpected journal message 'audit: type=1400 audit(1420788460.917:5): avc: denied { create } for pid=901 comm="docker" name=".docker" scontext=system_u:system_r:docker_t:s0 tcontext=system_u:object_r:root_t:s0 tclass=dir permissive=1'
Unexpected journal message 'audit: type=1400 audit(1420788460.918:6): avc: denied { create } for pid=901 comm="docker" name="key.json" scontext=system_u:system_r:docker_t:s0 tcontext=system_u:object_r:root_t:s0 tclass=file permissive=1'
Unexpected journal message 'audit: type=1400 audit(1420788460.918:7): avc: denied { write open } for pid=901 comm="docker" path="/.docker/key.json" dev="vda" ino=221186 scontext=system_u:system_r:docker_t:s0 tcontext=system_u:object_r:root_t:s0 tclass=file permissive=1'
and the test fails because of that but otherwise seems to pass. Maybe
this is a genuine Fedora bug.
Regsarding check-realm, realmd sucessfully joins the domain but then
cockpitd crashes, so we have a real issue there.

Forwarding to cockpit-devel.
The list on the wiki page makes sense. I think that pulling the storage
code into its own package doesn't need to depend on all the rest of the
refactoring. And it's probably the part we should do first.

Ubuntu
by Mark Constable
> One thing was unresolved was the instructions for how to get it running

Damn I miss using Arch but I have to go with a system supported by mainstream
hosting providers. Every VPS provider offers Ubuntu/Debian installs but DO is
the only hosting provider I've seen that provides Arch images. There may be
some others but it's rare compared to ubuntu.
So, may I ask what the state of support for Ubuntu might be these days seeing
that 15.04 will include fairly complete systemd support?
