Hi
I created a new profile[1] to make a minimal install using a kickstart.
When I boot up the client, I see the profile, but after a while the installation fails because it could not find the kickstart file in "http://127.0.0.1/cblr/svc/op/ks/profile/centos_64_minimal".
(1) Which URL is this? (2) Why is looking for a kickstart with the name of the profile if I specified the name of the kickstart file: "minimal-ks.cfg"?
Thanks
Marcelo
[1] [root@tannat ~]# cobbler profile add --name="centos_64_minimal" --distro=CentOS-5.4-x86_64 --kickstart=/var/lib/cobbler/kickstarts/minimal-ks.cfg

Check in /etc/cobbler/settings for the path to the default kickstart file. It's usually /var/lib/cobbler/kickstarts/default.ks, and that may be influencing the pathing you noted above.
You can also run the following to see if cobbler will tell you what the problem is:
# cobbler validateks # cobbler check
And if that doesn't reveal anything, perhaps rename your kickstart file to have a .ks extension, run 'cobbler sync', and then repeat the two validation commands. I don't have the source code downloaded, so I cannot verify if this is a hardcoded requirement, or not.

Hi Mark
This did the trick. Thank you.
What is not clear to me is when Cobbler reads the ks. This because the installation aborted because there was (is?) an error in the ks file, and despite the changes in it, the installation still aborts in the same place.
I repeated the steps about but seems to have no effect.
Thanks
mg.

1) this is going to be in /etc/cobbler/settings. You need to change next_server and server to be the ip address or dns name of your cobbler server. By default it is set to 127.0.0.1 because we don't really have anything better to set it to.
2) Cobbler does templating on the kickstart files. Basically it will expand variables in the kickstart file you specify to give kickstarts a bit more flexibility (you can really see this in snippets). In order to do this, cobbler points the host at the /cblr/svc address, which takes minimal-ks.cfg, and processes it before returning it to the host. So, if you were to wget that url from the cobbler server, you should see your kickstart file as you expect (with any templating written out).
I hope this helps.
edit the /etc/cobbler/setting, change server ip to your cobbler ip instead of 127.0.0.1 ensure there is no other dhcp in your install network ensure the iptables on the cobbler server is stop use the cobbler check command to detect the error
