Sounds easier to just do a post install script within the kickstart or create a package that runs one time at first boot.  I just figured that there was some way to access utilities installed on the host, such as ethtool, etc from within the reporting template in cobbler.

Something I did to accomplish this was have a cobbler snippet for a custom "firstboot" script, which can be made to run all sorts of validation checks on what was config'd and how well the installation went.

This works with the firstboot utility that comes with Red hat?  I thought about this but never looked into customizing firstboot.  I'll have a look.

Thanks!
