Michael et. al. : Creating/updating the repository with this command:
createrepo -s sha -o . -g repodata/comps-XXXX .
did the trick.

Hmm, can you help isolate when we do and do not need to add "-s sha" ?
It would probably be an easy change to make, though I'm not entirely
clear in what versions we need to run that... if it won't hurt things to
use it everywhere, I think we could call it... but that is also in question.
