KVM/Qemu on CloudSigma
by Renich Bon Ciric
Hey, Clouders!
I know that, you guys, are focused on Amazon's EC2.
Anyway, please, take a look on CloudSigma: http://cloudsigma.com/
- The company supports KVM/Qemu and we all know the benefits of that.
- Their backend is awesome.
- Nice ReST API: http://www.cloudsigma.com/en/platform-details/the-api
- Pay as you go or subscription
- 14 day trial
- They, currently, support Fedora 13.
- They let you upload your ISOs and share them with the community
It's worth a look. This is, by no means, SPAM. I'm not trying to sell
you anything. I'm just a very happy user. I think, Fedora Cloud,
should be aware of these options and see what we can do here too! ;)
I hope this doesn't bother anybody ;)
It's hard to be free... but I love to struggle. Love isn't asked for;
it's just given. Respect isn't asked for; it's earned!

Eucalyptus 2.0 and Fedora
by graziano obertelli
Hello,
I just wanted to mentioned that with the release of Eucalyptus 2.0 [1] we
are now providing packages for Fedora. We have been providing a Fedora
image for sometime now (albeit is a fairly old version of Fedora), and we
are happy to be able now to provide packages for Fedora.
Feel free to send me any comment about the packages, or any other
Eucalyptus related question.
cheers,
graziano

integrating sheepdog into fedora
by Steven Dake
Hi,
I've been working with the upstream sheepdog[1] community to get the
userland component of sheepdog into shape for distribution. Soon the
userland rpm will be ready for review.
The userland depends on upstream QEMU 0.13 to add a block storage
device. Curious to know if there are plans to integrate this version of
QEMU into a future fedora version or if we could carry a patch on top of
current fedora qemu which integrates the functionality.
Regards
-steve
[1] sheepdog is a distributed block storage system for QEMU. For more
details, check out the KVM Forum slides.

bucket names (for ami's that aren't snapshot-backed)
by Brian LaMere
For starters, note that before I did this I verified I can delete a bucket
and another account can create a bucket with the same name. So,
transferring the name is fast, easy, and painless. That said, since it's a
first-come, first-served sort of deal, I went ahead and grabbed these names:
fedora-ami
fedora-cloud
fedora-cloud-sig
fedora-hosted
fedora-images
fedora-images-ap-southeast-1
fedora-images-ap-southeast-2
fedora-images-ap-southeast-3
fedora-images-eu-east-1
fedora-images-eu-east-2
fedora-images-eu-east-3
fedora-images-eu-west-1
fedora-images-eu-west-2
fedora-images-eu-west-3
fedora-images-us-east-1
fedora-images-us-east-2
fedora-images-us-east-3
fedora-images-us-west-1
fedora-images-us-west-2
fedora-images-us-west-3
fedora-pvgrub
fedoraproject
fedoraproject.org
fedorahosted
"fedora" was already taken, 'natch. I didn't know what you all might have
wanted, so I more or less just grabbed lots of random names. If you want me
to snag another for the moment, let me know.

Sorry for delayed messages
by Robyn Bergeron
We had some messages in the queue to be approved because the person
was not a subscriber to the mailing list. I didn't catch them, being
out of town and whatnot (or packing and stuff like that beforehand),
but they're approved now, which is why everyone is seeing "new"
messages sent 7 days ago.
In any case, Brian is now a subscriber as well so we should be able to
mostly avoid that situation moving forward. :)

fedora 13 ami/aki?
by Adam Back
I looked at the meeting minutes posted recently and list archive, but it
still unclear to me:
could someone give an indication of the scale of work to have a fedora 13
available as an EC2 AMI/AKI? Is there a dependency on the AWS team to get a
suitable AKI built to enable this? Any AWS team members able to comment on
the eta for a suitable AKI?
I would like to use latest stable fedora under EC2 but the situation with
FC8 being the latest makes that difficult. Its long outside of its security
lifecycle and quite old which creates its own problems other than the
security issue!
