Internet service disruption

Hi all, Just a note to let everyone know that my internet service has been temporarily disrupted and I'm now having to use my cell phone to communicate. Thank goodness for cell phones, eh? Too bad I can't install git and publican in it, though. I'll continue working on a few things and learning more during this outage but my replies to lists may be a bit behind. Greetings, My name is Ian MacGregor. I have been using computers since 1983 and building computers since 2001. I started my Linux journey in 2001 with Debian GNU/Linux. From there I went on to use Fedora Core (fc1, fc2, fc3, fc4), Mandrake Linux (now Mandriva), MEPIS, Ubuntu, CentOS and am currently using Fedora 12. I would like to teach a class in #fedora-classroom. The class will be entitled "Introduction to cronjobs". Class outline: 1. Introduction to crontab a. What is crontab b. How it works c. Crontab and its options 2. The crontab file a. Cronjob layout 3. Crontab examples a. Examples showing various cronjob layouts 4. Crontab tutorial a. Setting up a cronjob b. Crontab error handling 5. Related reading 6. Q&A I would like to teach this class at 22 May, 2010 at 01:00 UTC and have checked to ensure there are no other classes scheduled for that time. Classroom session query

I am the Wiki Tender for the Fedora Classroom and am trying to come up with ways to boost class attendance. Would it be ok for me to make a short announcement in #fedora prior to each class? Introductory workshop on GNU autotools

Hi, I will be conducting an introductory workshop on GNU autotools in #fedora-classroom on 03 May, 2010 at 13:30 UTC. The aim of the classroom is to get people started on autotoolizing C code. I will use an example project and will go through the following: * Downloading the sample application * Creating files for the application => configure.ac -> Initialization -> Checks -> Output => Makefile.am -> Build programs -> Install additional files * Generating scripts Prerequisites for those wanting to attend this: * Familiarity with make, gcc * Ensure that autoconf, automake, gcc, make, etc. are installed on your system. `yum groupinstall "Development Tools"` ought to get all of it The session will not be covering autoheader and libtool since: * The sample I'm using does not need it * Those concepts are slightly more advanced and may require more time In other words, the session is for people who have never worked with autotools before. -- Siddhesh Poyarekar http://siddhesh.in
