Dear Classroom tutors, users and lurkers ;)
We've just delivered the first version of our Classroom about basic
usage of Redmine, this first version was only in spanish, but i'll
prepare a next session, if you are interested, in English (with help
of an English speaker able to read in Spanish i hope).
Meanwhile, our brand new FAmSCo member Igor Soares are going to
prepare a 0.2 version in português for Ambassadors from Brazil. That
session Igor will be our host, but i'll continue preparing the support
material.
Our first milestone for Moodle at proyectofedora.org includes deliver
several classroom sessions as first step, in order to design short
courses in moodle. Our first sessions would be in Castilian&Português,
in order to encourage the use of the classroom; a few would be
actually translations of previous classroom's sessions, like
collaboration tools delivered by Mel Chua, or for general users like
Backup Tools and Reporting Bugs.
We are in our way to learn the management of courses with Moodle
itself, so, if you are an expert in this LMS and you are willing to
share your knowledge, please contact me or Igor Soares at FAmSCo in
order to log a meeting. No matter if you only speak/write English, i
read better English than i can write it ;)
We'd be very thankful, and we'll try to contribute back to Fedora
global project, sharing our experience in the region.

Estimados colaboradores, usuarios y embajadores de Fedora
Latinoamérica:
Entregamos nuestra primera sesión sobre uso básico de Redmine, con
poca asistencia, espero que sobre todo a causa de las fiestas y el
escaso tiempo con que se confirmó. Sin embargo, cumplimos con el
compromiso que establecimos de entregar la experiencia que hemos
adquirido en el uso de Redmine. Y eso nos permite plantearnos
siguientes metas y mejoras, sobre todo si ustedes tienen interés.
Por supuesto, quedan aún nuevos problemas en el uso de Redmine que
explorar, pero nos encantaría contar con su colaboración: sean tan
amables de revisar al minuta, hacer sus críticas, plantearnos que
dudas les quedan sobre el uso de Redmine, de modo que podamos preparar
una mejor sesión resolviendo los problemas que nos planteen.
De momento, es un gusto para mí compartirles que Igor Soares y su
servidor, acordamos preparar una próxima versión (0.2) en português (y
claro, las mejoras también estarán en español), para entregar a los
Embajadores y colaboradores brasileños de Fedora.
Estos son apenas nuestros primeros pasos en el proyecto de
Adiestramiento regional, con miras a elevar el nivel de dominio de
nuestros colaboradores, de las herramientas de Fedora, y en un mediano
plazo, también llegar a más usuarios a través de cursos de uso de
Fedora.
Nuestras herramientas actuales entonces consisten en:

y puede ser un generador de nuevos colaboradores en la región.

So, i'm really sorry about not having confirmed the schedule for this
week Classroom session, but my possible students didn't take the
whenisgood survey until today. I supposed it would be better if no one
confirmed his/her interest in this class, it would be fine defer it to
next January.
But i'm happy because at least a few are engaged in working on sharing
our experience with that tool. So, i'll run the session with the
prepared notes so far, and we'll see if more people contributes
sharing their questions in order we can solve more issues next
iteration of the class.

Siento realmente no haber confirmado antes el horario para esta sesión
de Classroom, pero mis posibles estudiantes no habían tomado la
encuesta hasta el día de hoy. Suponía que sería mejor (si nadie
confirmaba su interés en esta sesión), posponerla hasta el próximo
Enero.
Pero estoy feliz porque al menos algunos están involucrados en
compartir nuestra experiencia con esa herramienta. Así que, tendremos
nuestra sesión con las notas que hemos preparado hasta ahora, y
veremos si más gente contribuye compartiendo sus dudas y preguntas, de
modo que podamos resolver más cuestiones en la siguiente iteración de
la clase.

Introduction:
At Fedora Latam, active Ambassadors of the region are starting to use
Redmine at http://rpmdev.proyectofedora.org/project/embajadores as our
ticketing system, analogous to Trac systems used by other regions; and
beyond than "getting stuff" we are using this tool as management of
proposals, sharing reports with our fellows of the region according to
accountability principles, and for the sake of learning all together.
This said, it's beyond of replying e-mails (turning again-and-again to
simple rules like "avoid top-posting", and so on). And even if its use
it's approved because the richness of context and issues management,
is kinda a somewhat complex system. We are planning to introduce new
Ambassadors to the use of this tool since his/her first approach to
the regional collective. But the design of a course for that it's a
long time consuming task, and we need to kick ourselves into the use
of this app.
So, we'd like to run as soon as possible a classroom session (in
Spanish at first release), to let more people sharing questions, this
way helping them to run better our project, and too, helping ourselves
to figure out which are the most problematic features, and prone to
lead people to make mistakes.
This would be a huge step for us, and we are open to suggestions, but
above at all, we want to follow "Release early, release often" method
and improve at sucessive iterations (and translations if there is
interest).
At this very moment, we are able to focus in just a few modules of
Redmine, Wikis, Issues, Documents, and Atom feeds. The versioning and
syndication of updates to being able to read from a widespread variety
of feed readers.
We have running even a bunch of social media tools as experiment of
the running of kinda-of-bots of updates inside the project:

Please guide us if the session should be reach more higher standards
than getting a general idea of how to run it, before it can be put
into Agenda. And any kind of added requirements.
We hope too, this could be not just another Ambassadors-Latam-only
classroom, but one able to give some advice to other projects wanting
to run their project in a similar way.
