Ok I figured it out, not sure if it's a bug, intentional design or what, but it seems that long_name expects the last part to be an integer, there must be something in bodhi that parses it out.
so
long_name='MXL Extras RHEL5' doesn't work but long_name='MXL Extras RHEL 5' does work.
I need to see if a long_name without an integer as the last part works at all.
