This also came up on a recent bug [1], where smolt is failing on
RHEL5
ppc. I have an almost-complete patch to separate out the meat of the
inventory script into a new package (beaker-inventory?) with a proper
binary (/usr/bin/beaker-inventory?) and making the
/distribution/inventory task just install and run that.
I'm thinking we should go ahead and do that *before* the lshw port of
the script. It should make it easier to experiment with different
versions of the inventory code, by substituting a different build of
beaker-inventory.
Sounds like a good idea. So you basically mean, that what we have in pushInventory.py will
now be beaker-inventory (with/without changes) ?
