Thanks, John. Sorry that you got the full backstory. I did start with CentOS 8, and Martin let me know it's not supported, nor is Python 3. I reinstalled on CentOS 7 on a Virtualbox VM and got the server running with a controller defined. That was just to see if it made enough sense to me to build it out in a bigger system. Which I've done so far with just the server, and it's not coming up. Well at least now it isn't. I got the server running, but couldn't create a controller, because the browser rejected both https and http calls. In the midst of trying to track down why that was happening within the provided httpd conf files, it now gives me a 500 Error, saying the server is too busy or the app has an error. Not sure where to go from here. Apache logs look clean far as I can see. There is an error in the beaker_errors log. If this is the right forum for getting help, I can post more.

Thanks, again.

Ken,

I believe that the Beaker server software requires RHEL/CentOS 7 to
run. I don't think it yet runs on RHEL/CentOS 8. Hopefully someone
will correct me if I am wrong.

The clients can install many different operating system versions on them.

John

We are concerned about launching the cluster on RHEL/CentOS 7 because they are no longer supported, which may result in challenges in testing new hardware. I am evaluating building the cluster on CentOS8, but, beaker-server fails with the following during installation:
