Hi All,
Just thought I would ping the list about my current plans for kernel 3.8 in rawhide so people are aware of what's going on.
I'm breaking it down into a couple of phases to make the change less of a problem (with luck):
- phase 1 is basically a basic 3.7 -> 3.8 jump and will include the
following:
- drop separate imx kernel. Currently doesn't support the previous HW
we supported with the imx kernel. It's now buildable as a unified kernel
- deal with new kernel config options we need to actually build the
config.
- enable new platforms
- imx and other new SoCs supported in the unified kernel. This
includes sunxi (AllWinner A1x) but it'll likely not be usable
I think you should not bother with sunxi support, so far only some very very minimal support has landed upstream, see: http://linux-sunxi.org/Mainlining_Effort
There is no mmc nor nand support yet, so other then the ability to run from ramdisk there is nothing there really ...
Oh I'm well aware of that, it's more a matter of getting it building to see what impact it had on unified kernels.
