I've put everything needed for building Java at
This includes new gcc RPMs, OpenJDK itself, and a bunch of
miscellaneous build dependencies. It requires glibc-2.13.90-9.1,
which is available at ftp://ftp.delorie.com/pub/armv7hl
libffi may be problematical because there is a soname bump.
The build dependencies for Java packages are very complex and very
circular. In order to get any further (i.e. building Eclipse) I'll need
a yum repo that's stuffed with all the .noarch Java RPMs.

I want to experiment with an fedora based system, to use the sheeva plug
as a cloud. I like the Amahi setup, but one application I need to use
only works perfectly with linux kernels below 2.6.24. I want to connect
external drives by the Ximeta ndas protocol. Their linux patches are
slightly botched at this time, so it can only connect one drive at a time.
I have the beginning of my idea working well on a virtual computer
running fedora 8.
Today I saw that there was arm experiments of fedora since around fedora 6.
So I am curious if there were ever fedora 8 running on the sheevaplug
with the marvell arm processor. The exisiting wiki only presents

A status update on F-14 on armv5tel because I've been somewhat quiet of late....
I believe we're going reasonably well although its not running as fast
as I would like.
We're nearing the end of the build-previous run. From there in the
next couple of days I should be able to switch over to running
koji-shadow and we'll move forward again.
I have a number of problematic packages that I would like some help
with. gcc/glibc/libffi/java/perl/python/binutils come to mind. In some
cases I have work arounds or patches in that are less than ideal so I
would love someone with more of a clue than myself to help out if
possible. I'll post a reply to this mail with more details of exact
packages over the weekend so people can help out and hack on it all.
We have enough of F-14 built that OLPC has moved over to F-14 for
builds on ARM on the XO and we're seeing some decent speed
improvements over F-13 on the same devices :-)
I plan to get out a new updated alpha minimal rootfs next week
sometime (I currently don't have broadband or I'd do it this weekend)
and I plan on adding a smartbook image to that as well to assist in

I'm seeing a weird problem on my ARM laptop - keymap settings aren't
surviving a reboot. Once I fire up system-config-keyboard (GUI version)
and set it (it seems to remember the correct map, just have to hit OK),
the mappings are correct. After a reboot, it's defaulted to the US map
again (I have UK keyboard).
I have tried symlinking defkeymap.map.gz -> uk.map.gz in
/lib/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty, and that didn't help. My
/etc/sysconfig/keyboard seems to be correct:
