Hello,
We are currently looking for talks for the Brisbane FAD scheduled for January 30th 2011. We are looking for any talks related to fedora and / or FOSS in general. We want to leave it open to encourage maximum participation.
Also, feel free to join us if you are in Brisbane on the 30th, see here for more details[1]. We will meetup early to have an early lunch, so come on an empty stomach, there will also be cake!
Please show your interest by replying here, or replying to asmartgoat@fedoraproject.org.
Thanks, Luke Martinez
I would love to give a talk and help with the FAD, but guess I wont make it due to lack of funds and all. I am in NZ and a student. oh well, I can contribute with ideas though I wont be attending.

Hi, Thanks for replying,
Unfortunately we don't have allocated budget for travels. You may want to apply for sponsorship directly to FAmSCo to LCA, but that is up to FAmSCo whether you would be able to achieve sponsorship.
According to zodbot your an ambassador (:D), your also in sysadmin group, so they are very likely to be able to give you at least partial sponsorship. If you do apply for funding, please add me to CC of your ticket so i may track your progress.
Please note: the first 4 days of LCA cost $125 to attend for students. ($~320 hobbiests) The last day is an open day (29th Jan) and we have our FAD on the 30th of Jan.
Thanks, Luke Martinez

The FAD is not listed on http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Premier_Fedora_Events#December_2010_-_February... might want to have it added there for information. I would love to apply for sponsorship but, are there people available for talks in OZ? :)

Hello,
I'll add it there soon, You'd be surprised, nobody has come up definitely wanting to talk. We need talks soon or we may have to change the structure of the FAD ;)
Thanks, Luke

Hmm that is interesting. I would love to come and talk about something, but thought there must be people from Australia who are really keen on it. :) I will send in an email to the FAMSCO and see if I can get some sponsorship, but of my own funds I dont think I will make it. Cheers. Btw, you should look at local schools and FOSS speakers and FAMSCO also might send a speaker to help you should send them an email.
