Development push delayed tonight
by Jesse Keating
The automated development push has been disabled for tonight (tomorrow
morning). This is so that I can push it by hand and introduce the new
layout. Specifically so that I can fix things if they break when
pushing the new layout.
Target arrival of the development tree on the mirrors is 11:00am Eastern
Daylight Time (EDT).

Fedora Core package cleanup project
by Will Woods
I'm announcing the start of a new QA project, and I'm asking for your
help.
In the past, Core packages have not been held to the same standards as
Extras. We want to fix this! We're starting by cleaning up the spec
files so that Core packages can all be built using Mock. (If you aren't
familiar with Mock, it's a cool RPM build tool that we use to build
Fedora Extras.)
This is where you come in: We need people to attempt Mock builds of
Fedora Core packages, and file bugs when they find packages that don't
build.
Doing so will earn you the thanks and respect of your peers, but as an
added incentive we're going to give away free stuff (!) to people who
help out.
Filing a bug on a broken package will earn you one Karma Point. If you
include a patch that makes that package build successfully, you'll get
five Karma Points. These will be redeemable for cool stuff from the Red
Hat Cool Stuff Store (at an exchange rate to be determined once we
figure out how much stuff we're actually allowed to give away :)

Ok? OK! Let's get testin'!

Changing the way that Development lands
by Jesse Keating
Much to the same tune as how I changed the way FC lands on mirrors, I'd
like to change how development lands. Development would land much in
the same way as Core, it would just be missing some files that Core
does.
Please see http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/NewDevelopmentLayout for
detailed information.
Questions or comments should be directed to me.

Unofficial FAQ Update: 2006-05-11
by Max Kanat-Alexander
Hey out there, Fedora Land. :-) Since the Fedora Core 5 update of the
Unofficial Fedora FAQ we've had various bits of feedback and
improvements to the FAQ. So today we have some updates to the FAQ for
you:
http://www.fedorafaq.org/
This is mostly a "polish" update, making everything shiny and bright,
and revising the instructions to work the best possible.
We have an updated yum configuration, updated PDF instructions, and
improved a *lot* of little things throughout the FAQ.
Also, we have some translations that are ready for FC5, now: German,
French, Polish, Portuguese, and Vietnamese!
I hope everybody enjoys the update! If you have any feedback, please
let me know:

fedora board update
by Max Spevack
I'd like to thank everyone for their patience as we allowed the final
community member of the Fedora Project Board to get all of the proper
approvals from his company before making the announcement. That's been
taken care of, and I'd like to officially announce that Matt Domsch is the
"mystery man" whose name has been in the Fedora Board meeting minutes.
Matt Domsch is a Linux Software Architect for Dell. He has been
developing, debugging, testing, and fixing aspects of Linux since 1999. He
maintains DKMS and efibootmgr userspace apps, edd, efivars and ppp_mppe
kernel modules, and has contributed to the maintenance of many other
kernel modules. Matt maintains several packages in Fedora Extras. Matt was
a member of the 2004 and 2005 Ottawa Linux Symposium Program Committee.
Matt holds a BS in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT) and a MS in Computer Science from Vanderbilt
University.
And just a a reminder, information about the Fedora Project Board and what
we are doing is available on the wiki:

Thanks,
Max
