I made a few tweaks to the libtimezonemap API to improve the handling of the Etc zones and incorporated them into the anaconda patch. The behavior now is to unset the pin and highlight the selected zone. The previous behavior was to unset the pin and highlight GMT.
As far as the actual libtimezonemap library, the API changes I made that the patch depends on are in libtimezonemap-0.4.1-2, which adds the API changes as patches in the SRPM. There's one newer build, which includes a glade catalog while we need for opening up datetime_spoke.glade in glade and not have a big missing widget dialog in the middle of the window. All of these updates have been submitted to upstream on launchpad, and 0.4.1-3 is in updates-testing on f20 or at least headed in that direction, maybe.
So for anyone wanting to try it out, here's the thing in koji: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=481230, here's the thing in bodhi: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/libtimezonemap-0.4.1-3.fc20
