Hi Frederic,
During the Fedora Ambassadors Day in Basel this weekend, the Fedora Ambassadors have set LinuxTag 2008 to be the 'primary' event of 2008 so that would be the ideal location to have a FUDCon. I'm not sure having a FUDCon on FOSDEM also would be a very good idea as the iidea of having a 'primary' event was to attract as many Fedora people to that one event. Let me know what you think.
Kind regards,

This is a great idea. +1 :)
I've got a question about accomodation at FOSDEM. Are we planning to reserve some common hostel/hotel (although I'd prefer hostel because of costs)? I think it'd make an eventual FUDCon easier and make the integration easier :)
And, of course, count me in, too :)

I'm not sure having another FUDCon on FOSDEM would be a very good idea as we intended to invite everyone to one 'primary' event so that it becomes a real gathering of Fedora people, with a big FUDCon and lots of fun.
I'm not opposed to having a FUDCon at FOSDEM also though, we just made this consideration earlier this week ;-)
Kind regards,

If so, I'm oppositive to having a FUDCon during FOSDEM. Indeed, LinuxTag will be much more better occassion for doing that :) Heh, it's still 7 months, I'm waiting with a hankering... But, I think some meeting on friday in Brussels is a good solution ;)

Hi,
As Alasdair G Kergon wrote - see below -, we have effectively two tables (Fedora/Jboss) and two development rooms (one for Centos/Fedora (150) and one for Jboss(74)) and two tables(Fedora/Jboss).
We've also been allocated a Fedora+JBoss stand (2 tables - on upper level I think). CentOS also has 2 tables (not adjacent to us - on other level). The devroom is H1309 - medium-sized (150) - larger than before for us. JBoss has a devroom in the AW building (capacity 74) for Sunday afternoon only. (All info is of course not final and could still get changed.)
You can also have a look at the following URL for more fresh details. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraEvents/FOSDEM/FOSDEM2008
Kind Regards Fred

And one more thing. Do you think we need to say something about Fedora Project, its goals, philosophy etc.? If yes, I could do it so :)

Hi,

Happy to hear that.
I've got a question about accomodation at FOSDEM. Are we planning to reserve some common hostel/hotel (although I'd prefer hostel because of costs)? I think it'd make an eventual FUDCon easier and make the integration easier :)
No plan have been done for that topic. However, it could be interesting to have feed back from fedora people who came last year.
Do you think we need to say something about Fedora Project, its
goals, philosophy etc.? If yes, I could do it so :) No defined yet. But if you want to register as speaker, feel free to do it.

I was there this year and there was no common accomodation. I was also on LinuxTag 2007 and we had an organized accomodation IMHO it was much better option :)

Ok, I'll register myself as a speaker when there'll be an opinion we need to say something about the Fedora Project in general. I'm waiting to hear opinions from the rest of ambassadors.

Hi all
I'm afraid that we decided not to give a Developer Room nor stand for Opengroupware+GNUstep at FOSDEM 2008. The problem, as every year, is that we receive many more requests than we have rooms and stands (and hosting in more rooms would be pointless because we'd have over 300 talks, also making it a nightmare for us to organize and manage during the week-end). Because of that, we have to pick, subjectively.
Hoping to see you at FOSDEM 2008 nevertheless, and thanks for your interest in the event.

Second, we have (if we really have ; Please Frederic ask for confirmation) a shared room together with the CentOS guys. And unfortunately I personaly believe such a FUDCon will not have such an access as we appreciate to have ..
Maybe, you decide otherwise; but this are my thoughts about.

Yeah, I myself feel that having a FUDCon at a shared room with Centos will not make an impression as it will give a hint to people about Fedora's unwanted affiliation with Centos, although we (Fedora) d'nt have any issue with sharing the room, but FUDCon has some meaning for us, we should try to avoid such Mix-up, that makes people confused about Fedora.

...as well from me. I'm sorry, but I figure the FOSDEM is much too small for a FUDCon. That there's not enough room is a big boost to that impression and my decision for the -1.
Let's make it more quality and less quantity!
