Hi,
I posted some details at: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/HelpWanted/Events. Since there's no Ambassador assigned to this event, I guess the HelpWanted is the page before we move it to Events.
Let's get this rolling please. Add to the list in the mail below:
+ Talks by GSoC candidates in India + Packaging and Testing etc

Hi,
The foss.in Project Day discussion has been trundling along for a while. Here are the relevant important links:
http://foss.in/2007/info/Project_Days#What_is_the_structure_of_a_Project_Day...
How is the Fedora Project Day placed ?
- we know what can be expected from the foss.in team
- we know the dates of the Project Days
- we know the intent behind the Project Days
- we don't have a Program Schedule in place yet o on IM Eugene Teo promises to be part of a Fedora Project Day
- we don't have volunteers identified
- we don't have Show-n-Tell sessions in place
Can we iterate this fast enough to have a nice proposal in place by Friday - 24th of Aug 2007 ?
It would be awesome to have sessions on:
o Fedora Spins (the project Chitlesh has been talking about ...) o Fedora LiveCD (persistence and all ...) o Fedora Roadmap (special mention of the Desktop Team bits) o How to contribute to Fedora o A Bug Triage section o Fedora and a11y

Ahh...the first reply. Partly due to my own confusion I managed to split the thread(s) between Marketing and Ambassadors. The page at: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/HelpWanted/Events is an attempt to salvage the conflict. So, to begin with - welcome to the process of figuring what can be done at a foss.in 2007 Fedora Project Day should it happen.
*I* cannot give you a little depth on the topics. How awesome is that ? That's 'cause *we* are the ones who should be getting the topics in place and figuring who would be proposing the Project Day. I understand from the foss.in team that:
+ some basic FAQ from them about proposal contents is being put up + proposal should be aimed at developers, contributors, potential contributors and not really generalist
Till now there is no Ambassador from India assigned to this - so, someone please stand up and take charge of coordinating and drawing up a list of potential talks. I provided in the earlier mail a rough jotting of what I find interesting (but obviously that's not the only things we want to do)

Hey again, Well I am here for that. I will take charge of the event proposal. But we need to draw up something solid to build the proposal on. you have been helpful in bringing forth very good topics, but they need to be structured and an indepth discussion into the topics need to happen.
ps: i am new to making proposals and will need a lot of guidance from the community.
Lets make this happen

So, here's what I jotted down sometime today. Guess it can be taken as a starting point.
We need to fix on the following though:
+ Date of the proposed day + Proposer for the Project Day proposal
:Sankarshan
FEDORA PROJECT DAY at foss.in
Pre-requisites to participate:
Interest in getting involved and contributing to the Fedora Project. The project day is proposed to achieve the getting together of existing Indian contributors (particularly perhaps the GSoC participants) in order to allow them to discuss their work. Base level understanding of Fedora roadmap and familiarity with some of the various Fedora subprojects eg. Translation and i18n, documentation, LiveCD, packaging would be good to have.
Audience: application developers, extension developers, open-source evangelists & enthusiasts, localizers, security experts
Theme of the day: Increasing the quantum of contributions to the Fedora Project from India
So, here's what I thought could be useful:
+ Opening remarks by a Fedora Ambassador (I am assuming that the Fedora Project Lead or others are not in a position to travel to foss.in, I'd be happy to be told otherwise) setting the theme of the Project Day + Short overview of the different Fedora SIGs (and perhaps EPEL) + GSoC time (GSoC participants get blitz face time to show-n-tell) + Become a contributor to Fedora (lightning talks with show-n-tell) - how to contribute - packaging - bug triaging - documentation - i18n - l10n (if it is so required, an l10n review sprint for Indic languages) + Fedora and a11y (can we get this going ?) + Spin your own Fedora - how, why, what, when - LiveCD - FedoraOnUSB

This is really upto the organizers. We can merely propose a date and that can very well be 4th.

Ok...here's the good news. The Project Days that are part of foss.in 2007 are:
* Debian/Ubuntu * Fedora * Gnome * IndLinux * KDE * Mozilla * OpenOffice.org * OpenSolaris
Now, these eight Project Days sessions will be part of the CfP that will be published next week, and people will be able to submit talk proposals for each of them (and the Main conference, of course).
So, now is the time to look at the proposal for the Fedora Project Day and arrive at:
+ rounding up speakers for talks and presentations + swag ideas
In the event you missed the proposal - here's a link: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FOSSin
- - Sankarshan
Note from the foss.in team:
A reminder as well: if you are unable to get credible subsessions (talks and workshops) together through the CfP, you *may* face dropping. The same applies to the nature of the subsessions - if they are not contributor oriented (just user oriented) or if we find that the majority of sub sessions are by people from a single commercial organisation, we will reconsider your selection.
