Hi all,
I've just had an email conversation with Max Spevack about ordering
media for North America. With the summer conference season upon us, I
wanted to get a good bit of media and get the order into our supplier
this next week.
My thought is that we have at least three big events in North America
before F14 would be released. I assume there are a few other small
events too... I'm going to base the order upon the needs of these
events, plus the average amount for AmbassadorKits and other unknown
events.
The list of events I have are these, taken from the Fedora Events page
(
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Events#FY11_Q2_.28June_2010_-_August_2010.29)
South East Linux Fest (SELF) - June 11-13
Red Hat Summit - June 22-25
Linux Symposium - July 13-16
OSCON - July 19-23
LinuxCon - August 10-12
Ohio Linux Fest (OLF) - September 10 - 12
Utah Open Source Conference (UTOSC) - October 7-9
On the cusp of F14
NYSCATE - November 20 - 23
The average order we place is along these lines:
F13 LiveCD x86 - 3000pcs
F13 x86 Install DVD - 1500pcs
F13 x86_64 Install DVD - 1000pcs
However, if we plan on giving out media to around 1/3 of the attendees
plus another 500pcs for AmbKits and the like, we get these numbers:
SELF - 300pcs
RH Summit - 500pcs
Linux Symposium - 200pcs
OSCON - 750pcs
LinuxCon - 250pcs
OLF - 500pcs
UTOSC - 200pcs
AmbKits - 500pcs
That's 3200 pieces total. After talking with Max, he understood that
we were a bit short in certain areas, and I think I can do a bit
better job distributing the media appropriately for each event. My
guess is that if we do around 5000pcs total, we'll be right at our
range, but maybe we should do more LiveCDs? Or maybe it's less x86_64
Install DVDs??
What thoughts do the rest of you all have? I'd like to open the floor
until next Wednesday, April 28. Please respond with your comments and
suggestions.
Cheers,
Clint
