Good morning from Egypt :)
Two days ago the government here in Egypt anunced a deal with Microsoft , with 43M$
All opensource communities and activists in Egypt started to move and act to stop that deal or at least limit It's effect
We organized a stand (1) In front of the prime minister's office (2)(3)
Ahmed Mekkawy(4)(5) (OpenEgypt(6) member and Opensource Activist) arranged a meeting with the minister of communications in Egypt who's in charge of almost anything related to IT field in the government
Nadeen(7) and I attended the meeting as Fedora Community Ambassadors
There has been other communities in the meeting (Ubuntu(8), Adf(9) and others )
We've talked about many things but the results was not as expected, they are still continuing with the deal as it
But they promised there'll be a commitment to open source in the upcoming projects, also they said there will be other meetings
People in the street started to ask "What's opensource? why ?" , That's a great achievement for us
As I said this is not our last move
