+1 to Syafarul Razi. Fedora is RPM base and ubuntu is debian base. You'll find ubuntu package with some .deb format and fedora with .rpm format.

Technically, the difference of these distros is Fedora is a legacy of RedHat Linux while the ubuntu is a legacy of Debian. That what I answered to Linux newbie.
