Dear Fedora Ambassadors,
we all know the Fedora Project has an extremely diverse community. Our
contributors come from different backgrounds.
From time to time, regional communities sponsor contributors to travel
either domestically or abroad to represent the project. The model
being used is reimbursements, i.e. contributors need to pay for their
expenses in advance and then await to receive their money back some
time later. This is done for a variety of reasons. Reimbursements are
processed exclusively via Paypal.
First of all, I understand that not everyone feels comfortable with
paying for their expenses in advance and then awaiting to be
reimbursed a month and a half later. Secondly, Paypal does not work in
all countries - which can be very difficult for some people to receive
payments.
Are you having any issues with Paypal in your country? If yes I would
like to invite you to visit the following wiki page[0], describe the
problem and suggest alternative solutions (If you have any in mind).
Are you having any issues related to reimbursements? I encourage you
to reach out to me and/or any other FAmSCo representative and report
any problem, even anonymously.
We appreciate your input. Thanks very much.

PS: As I recall, this topic has been discussed several times in the
past. No specific action was taken, however.

Hello,
I've seen this discussion in LATAM and in FLOCK and nothing happened
afterwards. From what I know, the issues in LATAM are still on. From my
particular side, I can't say there's a problem. I never received
reimbursement from Fedora but as I'm living in Frankfurt my PayPal
account works fine so far. I don't know how it is for other countries
inside EMEA though.
Cheers,
Sylvia
