Hi All

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I can see the thread going off track to be honest.

I can't help that much, but put my name in the pot, if I can help out I will.

Thanks

Hi,
I'm writing this email because I feel that ambassadors in EMEA need new
leadership. In the last 4+ years I've taken a lot of roles in the
Ambassadors project (chair of our meetings, FAmSCo chair, production
and distribution of swag in EMEA, regional treasurer, event and
activity planning, mentoring,...). Since I changed a job and moved to
the desktop engineering team in Red Hat earlier this year, I haven't
had so much time for all of this any more and after those years I'm
also feeling a bit burnt out which is, I think, the main reason why I
have not been doing all those duties as properly as in the past.

We need new leaders with energy who will step up and drive our
community forward just like we did 3-4 years ago. I know there are such
people among us! I'm not going away. I will remain one of the most
active ambassadors in the region, but I'd like to focus more on the
field work and our activities in the Czech Republic.

To be more specific, I'm looking for volunteers to take over the
following roles:
- primary chair of our regular meetings - Jon and Giannis have been big
help to me here, but I still have primary responsibility for it, when I
forgot or was not available and didn't ask someone else to chair it,
the meeting didn't happen. I'm willing to be one of the chairs, but
someone will need to take over the primary responsibility.

- treasurer - I haven't had time to track our expenses and do reports
like last years, I only have a rough idea about our spending right now.
This role is about tracking expenses, collecting receipts and
calculating our overall spending and reporting others how we're doing
budget-wise.

- FAmSCo representative - looks like FAmSCo as one of the Fedora bodies
will remain and we will have elections after F23, but we need new blood
here. It's not only me, but pretty much all members have been serving
for several years in FAmSCo and feel burnt out. Ambassadors needs new
leadership in general. The generation change should have taken at least
a year ago, but then it got disrupted by the FOSCo thing which froze
things for almost a year.

I'm willing to keep my responsibility for swag production and
distribution because it has many advantages to do it centrally in Brno.
And most of the work has been done by Květa recently anyway.

But it's not only about well-specified roles. It's also about general
coordination and making sure that things are happening. For example,
we're supposed to have an EMEA FAD in December or we're looking for a
Flock location, it was usually me who stepped up and made sure things
started moving. I haven't had time this year and things have fallen
apart.
