Yes, it's clear that it is a quest for an alternative not a substitution. I added Germany to the list with two alternatives I used so far.  I don't like much Western Union because of the fees and because sometimes, depending on the country and exchange, you may loose money if they don't pay in dollars but in local currency. But it certainly works everywhere although in Frankfurt isn't that much used  (probably because there so many banks).
