We had a related issue in Brazil, where taxes on the DVDs value ended up
close to a monthly minimum wage.
In our case, we suggest shipping the next promotional materials
declaring zero cost (or something like 5 bucks), and as "gifts". So
taxes on the merchandise value will remain relatively small.
Regarding the shipping cost, here are a few alternatives:
. asking for donations through country-lists and paypal
. donations from universities
. donations from related businesses
. creating a local NGO to facilitate operations and offer tax-free
donations receiving
Shouldn't we think about a few distribution-points spread over
the
world? So that an Ambassador can order from Europa, USA or Asia.
That's cheaper and faster.
No doubt! I believe Alex is already thinking/working on that.
But we can definitely work smarter meanwhile. The least, having sender
and recipient talking through before sending...
