IRC for the 21st century: Introducing Riot
by Justin W. Flory
Hey Ambassadors,
I wanted to share a helpful resource with the community about a great,
new (and open source) way to use IRC. Many of us are already familiar
with IRC, so we know its strengths and also its weaknesses. It can be
difficult for people who are just getting involved with open source and
Fedora for the first time.
Over the past year, a new protocol called Matrix has been developed with
a front-end client called Riot. It integrates easily with various IRC
networks (including Freenode), offering a bouncer-like service and a
friendly, easy-to-use interface for various platforms.
You can check out more about Riot and see how to use it in the following
article on Opensource.com:
https://opensource.com/article/17/5/introducing-riot-IRC
Hope some people find this useful! Thought I would share it. :) Even if
you're already using your own IRC setup, the work going on with Matrix /
Riot is still cool to read about. Feel free to share this with anyone
who might find it useful too.

Cheers,
Justin W. Flory

Fedora 26 Beta Release Readiness Meeting on Thursday, May 25 @ 19:00 UTC
by Jan Kurik
Join us on irc.freenode.net in #fedora-meeting-2 for the Fedora 26
Beta Release Readiness Meeting meeting.
The meeting is going to be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 19:00
UTC. Please check the [1] link for your time zone.
We will meet to make sure we are coordinated and ready for the Beta
release of Fedora 26. Please note that this meeting is going to be
held even if the release is delayed at the Go/No-Go meeting on the
same day two hours earlier.
You may received this message several times, but it is by purpose to
open this meeting to the teams and to raise awareness, so hopefully
more team representatives will come to this meeting. This meeting
works best when we have representatives from all of the teams.
For more information please check the [2] link.

Fedorator: A Raspberry Pi-based Open HW box that puts Fedora onto USB sticks
by Miro Hrončok
Hi all.
Since the Fedora DVD are dying, Sanqui (a student of mine) designed an
Open Hardware device that can attract visitors of a Fedora booth on
various conferences and can copy a selected image with Fedora onto an
inserted USB stick.
The prototype with build instructions is available on GitHub [1],
more photos are in my tweet [2].
We also have a physical device and will test it "in production" on PyCon
CZ (8‑10 June).
It has been designed to be cheap, hackable and easy to assembly. You
should be able to build it quite well already, but a more robust version
of the case is being developed.
If interested, feel free to reply on-list, submit an issue on GitHub or
ping Sanqui directly on #fedora, #fedora-devel or #fedora-python.

I wanted to ask about OSS Weekend in Bratislava in about a month, 17-18
June http://ossvikend.sk - It's Slovak event, so we are talking about Cz/Sk
Ambassadors.
Did anyone think about going there, ask about Fedora booth?
Regards,
Radka
