FrOSCon 2011
by Christoph Wickert
Hi,
as you might know I have taken over organization of FrOSCon 2011. I
registered Fedora at FrOSCon and also applied for a devroom.
FrOSCon is one of the best events in Germany: Excellent organization,
very friendly atmosphere, nice location and prices are really low. It is
not huge, but high quality. Unlike say LinuxTag, the main focus is not
the exhibition but the conference. Every year they have great speakers
to deliver talks cover the latest and greatest in Linux development. But
it is not necessarily a developers event, there are also workshops that
are interesting for people who are new to Linux. A good place to meet
and have fun. Bonn is nearby and good the location is good to reach.
For more info about the FrOSCon, please refer to
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FrOSCon_2011
I am happy to that the the FrOSCon organizers have confirmed the devroom
for Sunday. Not it's on us to make something of it. Let's try to deliver
a program that is interesting for both Fedora Contributors and FrOSCon!
I will add a table for the talks later but you can already think about a
topic you want to talk about.
If you want to come to FrOSCon, please add yourself in the wiki at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FrOSCon_2011#Attendees
As usual you have the chance to get reimbursed:

Please help us making this a successful event.

Christoph

Bid for FUDCon China 2011
by Gerard Braad
Hi All,
I have created a bid page for having a FUDCon Asia in Beijing
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:China_2011
Would be nice to get your help to make this possible. It would be nice
if you could add information to the page about ticket prices if you
would want to attend this FUDCon. The estimated time for the event is
12+13 or 19+20 of November. The information needs to be known before
the 23rd of June as this is the deadline for the bid. Steadily I will
add more information, but if you can help... please do.
regards,
Gerard

Hi everybody, I'm new here, so I want to introduce myself
by Walter D. Vargas
Hi community, greetings from Nicaragua.
My name is Walter Vargas, and I want to express my insterest to this list
in becoming a Fedora Ambassador in Nicaragua.
Now, I´m studying fifth semester of Systems Engineering at National
University of Engineering, Nicaragua. I like programming a lot and I am a
passionate in this world of software Libre and Open Source, and a bit more
since I met the local Fedora Community here in Nicaragua, attending their
activities from two year ago on.
Since I met this community I have participated consistently, and that is a
very encouraging experiencie that I will continue to do so disinterested,
as I have the desire to share the freedon and innovation that Fedora offers
to us as individuals and society.
I live at one of the most important city of my country as it`s Masaya. In
my town there are virtually no institutions nor organizations that promote
the use of Free Software. And as part of my passion, it is to promote,
assist and share the bounty of Fedora, in my city and my university, and why
not, my country and abroad.
I´ve reached the steps to comply with my request, and, this my presentation,
was the step I was missing.
I have requested Neville Cross to be my mentor, whom I contacted and very
kindly accepted my request.
Waiting for your kind suggestions and answer, and also the acceptance of my
application, I say goodbye to everyone, wishing success to each of the
activities and ideas for the community FEDORA!!! .
Best Regards

Drupalistas: Call for participation on Fedora Insight
by Pascal Calarco
Hi Fedora Ambassadors --
Do you have intermediate to advanced Drupal 6 skills, and some time to
apply these to benefit the Fedora community? Would you be interested in
leveraging these to help spread the word about Fedora?
If so, then we have a great opportunity for you!
Fedora Insight[1] is a content portal for aggregated news, views, and
events about the Fedora Project that a multi-faceted team has been
working on over the last while. The vision is to build a rich, dynamic
one-stop place to get the latest news on Fedora. The first content
we're incorporating is Fedora Weekly News[2], and we're in the midst of
themeing the site as well as creating new Views for FWN issues. Come
join us! We meet Thursdays on irc.freenode.net
If you are interested, please join the Fedora logistics list[3], and
introduce yourself to the team! We've also started a new Fedora Project
Drupal group[4] for more recruitment, so join us there too, once it has
been approved by the moderators there! Thanks so much!
