Fedora Ambassadors Steering Committee Survey
by Neville A. Cross
Hello,
On behalf of Fedora Ambassador Steering Committee (FAmSCo), I want to
ask for a few minutes of your time and fill the following survey.
The most important issue is to explore the view of Ambassadors about the
Fedora Board Goals set for 2011. As we already asking some question, we
think that will be beneficial to explore about Ambassadors role, and the
view of Ambassadors about FAmSCo work.
http://fedora-goals.limequery.org/62553/lang-en
We will be publishing the results shortly after closing responses.
FAmSCo decided to go for using Lime Service as is a service based on
Free Software. We hope in the future to host our own LimeSurvey engine,
so we can have as much survey data as we see fit.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
Best regards

Magazine from Fedora APAC community
by Buddhike Kurera
Hello FAms,
As the APAC FAm Community we came up with an idea of releasing Magazine for
APAC region.
Info can be found at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_APAC_Magazine.
There are three name suggestions proposed at the moment. Therefore we need
to select one of them.
In order to select a name can we have a range voting using fedora voting
system?
Please help me to arrange this facility as we dont have any option to count
others favor.
Thanks.

Self Introduction
by Michael Berger
Greetings Ambassador mailing list,
My name is Michael Berger, I live in Knoxville, TN, USA. I work as a Linux Solutions Engineer at a cable television media company which has a few of the best known lifestyle media networks in the US. We use mainly RHEL and Solaris at work, but we are phasing out Solaris over the next year and a half or so.
For reference my FAS name is tideline and irc nick is the same. I have recently decided it's time to start giving back more to the community and I believe the Fedora Ambassador program is a good starting place. This is not the first project of this type I have worked on. I was the founder and lead, for a short time, of the Tennessee Ubuntu LoCo group. I had some changes at work as well as starting work towards an MBA degree which got in the way of continuing. My other areas of interest within the Fedora Project are working with the Marketing Team as I feel what I have learned in the MBA program could help me contribute there. I am also interested in virtualization and cloud technology as well.
When not working I enjoy spending time with my 4 children and finishing my MBA (I will be done in December). I also enjoy playing and coaching soccer.
Thank you
Mike Berger

Primary F15 media shipment for EMEA
by Christoph Wickert
Dear ambassadors,
I am about to prepare the primary F15 media shipment for EMEA. For F15
we will have around 3000 Multi Desktop DVDs and 3000 Biarch Install
DVDs.
Primary shipment means that I will ship larger amounts of media to
several anchor points in EMEA for further distribution to the local
communities. This model has worked quite well in the past. It is cost
efficient, however a little slower then direct shipment.
This means:
* If you can distribute media in your local community, please file
a ticket at https://fedorahosted.org/emea-swag-tracking/ and
assign it to me ("cwickert"). Tell me how much media you want.
On the one hand we need to get the media fast, so request as
much as you can distribute. On the other hand we need to share
the media wisely, so don't request too much. Ask your local
communities and look in the wiki for events in your region to
get reasonable numbers.
* If you have a release event coming up and need media ASAP, the
procedure is basically the same: File a ticket at and assign it
to me. Please mention the event (with a link to the wiki) and
the latest date of delivery.
Note that we still need to produce the media, this means the primary
shipment will start at the beginning of June.
Regards,
Christoph
P.S.: This mail goes out to the ambassadors and to people who have
distributed media in the past. Thanks to everybody for their help.

Event report: Solutions Linux in Paris
by Kévin Raymond
Solutions Linux Open Source 2011, event report.
That was an amazing event, with 250 booths over 6,000m², 10,000
visitors expected, 50 talks, Google I/O Extended, Intel Appup
promoving MeeGo, TV and cie.
That's a huge event where companies involved in Open Source spend time
close to NPOs contributing to Free OS, soft or ideas.
>From the Fedora Project side, we met lots of interesting peoples, from
simple users to old contributors by people who are looking for an
other OS, at least an other graphical environment (we heard a lot
about the "Ugly Unity"). We even met reporters writting about Open
Source software/hardware (with whome we need to write articles).
We also talked about the 3rd release of the fench Fedora magazine
called "Muffin", and the release party which is approaching. Some
people have asked us to install a Live Fedora 15 beta on their dongle,
great!
Thankfully, between the 5 of us, there was always someone available at
the booth, meeting the whole Open Source community. Thanks to these
contributors!
