Nomination period for Fedora Board, FESCo, and FAmSCo elections closes Nov. 5
by Robyn Bergeron
Greetings and salutations,
It is time for yet another edition of.... "Robyn's Fedora Public Service
Announcements" :)
I'd like to give you a friendly reminder that the nomination period for
the upcoming Fedora elections will be closing promptly TOMORROW,
Saturday, November 5, 2011, at 23:59:59 UTC (US 19:59:59 EDT, 16:59:59 PDT).
Full information about the elections, including the elections schedule,
and links to where one may nominate, can be seen here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Elections
This election cycle will fill the following seats for a one-year period:
* Fedora Board: 2 elected seats, as well as 2 appointed seats
* FESCo (Fedora Engineering Steering Committee): 4 elected seats
* FAmSCo (Fedora Ambassadors Steering Committee): 7 elected seats
Running concurrently with the nomination period (and, hence, closing at
the end of the nomination period), the elections questionnaire is also
open for adding questions which will be posed to candidates. Following
the closing of the questionnaire, candidates will be asked to answer
questions relevant to the position for which they are seeking election.
Questions may be added here, and, again, will also close on Saturday,
November 5, 2011:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/F17_elections_questionnaire
If you are planning on seeking election to one of these bodies, please
remember to complete your self-nomination *prior* to the deadline.
Additionally, if you have a fellow contributor who had indicated
interest and has not yet self-nominated, be a Friend and remind them to
act promptly.
Thanks!

[legals] Media production out of the Fedora Project perspective
by Kévin Raymond
Hi guys,
I could not find any docs about media production without ambassadors
involved (nor FamSco approval).
Fedora is free software, mostly under GPL, if an NPO ask me if they
could sell a DVD containing only Free Softwares, as well as the Fedora
Live CD included, is there any problem? I don't think so if the Fedora
Project iso is not altered.
Is there a difference between hundreds and thousands units?
What about selling respins?
Which wiki page details this?
Cheers,

The deadline is coming. However, there are only 8 nominations for
FAmSCo [1] up to now.
I believe we have a lot of people those got enough experience as well
as always want to contribute more and more to Fedora.
So, why don't you nominate for FAmSCo now.

Hm, I think I need to script that because filling out templates manually
sucks. I always keep forgetting something. :(
What I wanted to say is: The next meeting will be in two weeks from now,
that's Wednesday, November 16th at 20:UTC.

Shipping Requests in NA
by inode0
Hello fellow ambassadors,
This is a reminder from your shipping department that we could use
your help when placing requests for media and/or swag in the following
two ways.
(1) Shippers are volunteers and often have busy lives and can't
process requests immediately. Give them a few days at least to gather
your items, pack them, deliver them to the shipper, etc. Expecting
this to take one week would be helpful to shippers who do this work
for us as time permits in their normal lives.
(2) Help us control costs by planning ahead for what you need. 99% of
shipments should be done via normal ground rates. This saves a lot of
money and also helps give shippers time to process your request.
If you know about an event in the future you can really help us out by
getting your request into trac at least two weeks prior to the event.
Thanks,
John
