Hello Guys,
Unfortunately I am sending this email to inform that I'm leaving FAMSCO.
I am very upset by the 0 support from Red Hat Brasil/Latin America and
I'm not happy with the way that decisions are being taken here.
My relationship with some FAMSCO members also impossibility my
participation here.
I had good times at FAMSCO since the fisrt election, but now I'm very
disappointed and unmotivated.
So, I leave my position and I apologize for any inconvenience created.
By now, I will stay here only as Ambassador, helping to spread Fedora in
my region without any special role.
I will keep working in the Fudcon Latam, providing all support needed to
our local ambassadors.
Best regards!

hey,
I recently looked at the APAC page[1] on the wiki and found it a little
confusing. I've gone ahead and organized it a little. Please take a look
and correct anything that I've messed up.
Thanks :)

There is also Likewise Open (http://www.likewise.com/products/likewise_open/) which is not part of Fedora... but a third-party app available for Fedora. I thought there was a package in Fedora for the same thing but I can't seem to locate it at the moment.

Hi All,
A user asked me if it was possible to set up Fedora as a file server and have it integrate with MS Active Directory (and it's a school, so it has to be AD-comptabile, unfortunately!).
The file server bit is absolutely fine, I've given him a hand with all of that, it's just the AD integration bit; can anyone advise?
Regards,
Joe

Hello everybody,
As most of you know I am the event owner for IDELO conference scheduled
for the 17th of May 2010. This event being native to my country means a
lot to me and my people, so I have been working very had to make it a
success. However I now have serious concerns over the handling of the
organization and ownership of the event. I have discussed my situation
with a few fellow ambassadors and would like to bring it up in the EMEA
meeting tonight. Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen personal
commitments I will be unable to make it tonight so I would like to
delegate Sascha to discuss this on my behalf. I hope this matter will be
given the attention and merit that it requires, which should help pave
the way for better handling of future events in Africa.

Plan A: I take box from SELF send to FOSSCON monday morning
Mel will bring Box and V-banners to Summit.
Plan B: I take Box from SELF and send to Summit same Monday, This plan is secondary because we are not definite that we have someone to work the table (the last I heard).
I do think we send Swag for the Summit Direct so it doesnt disappear at FOSSCON.
I dont know whose swag pile what needs to come out of.

This message is primarily directed at the North American Ambassadors.
As y'all probably know, the Red Hat Summit 2010 is coming up. We have
a planning page on the wiki here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Red_Hat_Summit_2010
I wanted to put in a request for support, to consist of:
* Event box
* Vertical and hanging banners
* Any swag that would be appropriate
The audience at the Summit is quite large, usually well over 1,000
people. We have USB keys already being provided which will include a
Fedora 13 Live image. I'd like to make sure we have some of the
typical goodies to hand out as well. I already have in hand the
mailing addresses we need for either an early or a late shipment to
the Summit, and can get those addresses to the appopriate people.
How should we proceed from here?
Paul

Hi Paul:
So I imagine that some of this stuff will leave direct from SELF on
June 13th - and Ben Williams or I can make sure it leaves directly.
There is FOSScon - which is June 19th, which might make for tight
shipping deadlines, and mean we want to use a faster shipping method,
or perhaps deploy one of the other event boxes.
Ben: It seems like we discussed this previously - is there already a
plan in place to make sure this stuff arrives at $summithotel before
the 22nd?

All,
I'd like to wrap up the schedule and any leftover details for FAD NA
in the next few days.
The wiki page for the FAD is here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_Ambassador_Day_North_America_2010
We already have a fairly solid timeline - but if you have any agenda
items you believe should be discussed, please add them
here:https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_Ambassador_Day_North_America_201…
Additionally, attendees - if you have any questions about your
transportation, who you are driving with, etc. - let's try to get
those resolved now. Hotel room-sharing buddies and likely carpool
buddies are posted on the wiki. Please be sure that you know how to
get ahold of whoever you are carpooling with (aka, get their phone
number) - and that you have also sent this to inode0.
We need to get a plan together for how to get to where we are meeting
on campus for our FAD. The best solution here seems like we should
have the crew staying at Chez John (that's inode0, spevack, dgilmore)
come on over and meet us at the hotel lobby, either for breakfast or
for "it's time to go." Those of us NOT staying at Chez John need to
know how to get to Chez John for evening-time stuff (aka watching
Robyn look foolish playing pool).
If anyone else has other items that need to be addressed that I've
forgotten, comments, questions, please pipe in.
Thanks,
-Robyn
Hi fellow ambassadors,
Just to report a presentation I gave the previous week.
Well 1 and a half week ago I gave a speech about fedora in my school
in Thessaloniki,Greece. In the beginning I didn't know what to expect
but the final outcome was great.
There were around 30 attendees. So,I started with a presentation using
a projector and did my best to represent fedora in the best way.I
talked about fedora as an operating system and focused on its
strengths. After that I spoke about the fedora community and the way we
act as a part of it.Also,I tried to convince them to join the fedora
project.
In the second part of the presentation, there was something like a
small workshop and we used live cds in the PCs of our computer
laboratory. The students were surprised because they didn't have the
chance to use a linux distribution before. In the end, they asked me
more than 25 questions (!) and that seemed that they really became
interested in fedora. Finally,I handed live cds and fedora flyers
(translated in Greek). All of the students seemed to be satisfied.
In the end,I think that the speech was pretty good and the final
outcome was above my expectations. It was a good speech from a 15 year
old ambassador I guess :)
You can views some photos from the presentation (they are pretty
bad-taken photos, but never mind) [1] as well as read the blog post
here [2]
Also,I would like to thank the fellow contributors from the Greek
Fedora Team for their help :)

giannisk
