About that, I suppose there is a procedure for accepting new mentors,
but I can't find it. Are they appointed by FAmSCo after years of good
and loyal service ?
I'm not saying that I myself feels suited to be a mentor. :)
However, if the mentorship process is new, and mentors are few, then
they might easily get swamped.
Particularly in LATAM / EMEA, where we have very active communities,
I'm surprised to see only one / two mentors (and I'm sure there are
competent enough people to fulfill the role).
All I could find is:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mentors/NewMentors
However, this seems to relate to the more general Mentors program, not
the Ambassadors mentors:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mentors
(the list of people on this page is totally different from the list of
people on the Ambassadors/Join page, so I guess the 2 are not related)

Question about Approval.
by Fabio Jara
Hello to all, i'm Fabio Jara, from Paraguay, recently i applied to the Fedora Ambassadors Project.
I followed every step to do it, have send an email to Rodrigo Padula, that's listed as a Mentor.
No email have come back in replay, my question is: do i have to do something else that is not listed in here? -> http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors/Join
Don't get me wrong, i just want to know if i need to do more to be approved in the group.
My regards to all, and thanks for all that you have been doing for fedora :D

persons who have a role of sponsor or administrator will sponsor you, until then, you will have to wait.

EMEA Event Box
by Yaakov Nemoy
Hey List,
After some discussion, Alex C. and i would like to put together the
first EMEA Event Box. I've talked to Max and he's OKed it from a
budget and shipping perspective. If there is another one in the works,
it may not be a bad thing to have two floating around in any case.
The timeline is to plan it out over the next couple of weeks and come
up with a good idea of what we want to put in it between now and
LinuxTag. We plan on debuting it at Hacking At Random 2009, where we
will likely need many of the components in it. Here's a tentative list
of things we will want to put on it. Anything with an asterix next to
it is something that would be very helpful to have at HAR.
Box *
Projector *
Projector Screen *
Video Camera *
Wireless Router (Preferably running Linux) *
A handful of CDs to make booths look pretty
USB sticks with the latest up to date respins of all the LiveCD isos.
Stickers galore
Some Tshirts
A Fedora branded party tent *
UTP Cable
UTP crimper (?)
Packet of leaflets to handout
XO (?)
And we'll probably go through the list of odds and ends that are on
the wiki for the other two event boxes, things such as pens, banners,
hooks, etc...
Any comments?

Fedora Branded Tents
by Yaakov Nemoy
Hey List (again),
For those of you who like camping or just spending time outside, i'm
looking into doing Fedora branded tents. Since custom work like this
can be done better in bulk or bulkish, i'm curious to see if anyone
else has an interest in this. There are a number of regular outdoor
events in the summer in Europe, so i think that having at least one
high quality tent would be a good idea. If other people want to get
in on the out door action or just like having Fedora branded schwag we
might have a bit of a market for this.
Here's what i'm looking to do.
Firstly, we need a decent sized party tent. Our estimates for HAR are
about 20 m2 total space, which we can achieve with either two square
or one rectangle tents. I'm looking for white ones so we can put the
Fedora logo on the top, but since Dutch summers are rainy, the top
will probably be covered up by a tarp. I'm also thinking of getting a
wall to wrap around the tent with the Fedora logo on it, and if we
just get a logo on that, any generic white tent may do for us. With
the tarp on, the wall will be more visible anyways.
The second thing is a bit more pie in the sky. I would like to get a
Fedora branded camping tent to pimp around when i go camping. I know
several other Fedora Contributors are happy campers too, so i'm pretty
sure we could figure out something. A brief search online ago i found
some places that only do these sorts of things in mass bulk (1000+).
If i can find something with far less quantity (maybe 10-100 max),
would there be interest in buying Fedora branded tents or in general,
basically at cost + shipping, which would hopefully not be more than
100 USD or EUR?
(I will also keep my eyes open for quantities <10 so if you really
wanted that Fedora camping tent, i may have something available
anyways.)
Any Comments?
