Re: belgian community
by Frederic Hornain
Dear All,
Sorry for my absence these previous weeks but due to personal reasons I was
really busy.
Bert,
Could you post on the Fedora mailing list the log of our last IRC meeting if
you have not already done it ?
Thanks.
For Brucon, I sent you my position on the Fedora ambassadors mailing list.
Vincent,
Have you answer to the questions concerning the Fedora Web Site ? Do you
need help ?
*
Before, I leave our IRC Meeting last time, we talked about a Belgian Summer
event in July at Gent ?
We defined it will take place the first week of July.
So, does someone have much details ???
For your information, I have contacted the Belgian JBoss User Group in order
to work together as I already did it with our Belgian Friends of CentOS and
OLPC. OK, it is not Linux but it is always Open Source.
In addition, Jboss will be integrated more and more deeper in the next
release of Fedora.
Now, I am going to plan another Belgian IRC Meeting before the end of this
week.
If I missed something, please accept my apologies.
Best Regards
Frederic

brucon 2009
by Bert Desmet
yesterday I heard for the first time about brucon (http://brucon.org)
(thx to inode0).
Because it looks like a really interesting conference, I think it would
be cool to be there with some other fedora people. If there are enough
Fedora people, I will also try to set up a booth there. please note that
I am not yet sure if a booth will be possible, the organisation asked me
to join them in their next crew meeting. When a booth would be possible,
maybe we could share one with the CentOS team.
If you are planning to come, please check this page
(https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BRUCON2009) on the Fedora

F11 download
by Emilio Simpkins
I'm trying to download Fedora 11, and I keep getting a message from the
server "Could not save file because source file cannot be found". Is this a
common problem today?

Re: [Ambassadors] Bragging on NA for a moment
by Adam Miller
I'm at Sam Houston State University and my cooperation from the faculty has
been solid in the Computer Science department but others have been
non-responsive (such as art). Shoot me an email sometime and we can try to
coordinate something.

You've seen the talk of new mentoring requirements - well getting a
Fedora tattoo is one of the new requirements to join the Ambassadors
:)
just kidding.
They are temporary tats.

Bragging on NA for a moment
by David Nalley
Hey guys, Just wanted to take a moment to share some of the awesome work
that has been happening from some of our relatively new Ambassadors in NA.
Adam Miller has been tearing up his college with talks about and promoting
Fedora on his campus. He is also doing a ton of other work within Fedora
David Duncan has taken over and accomplished a project I started wanting to
make happen 9 months ago - tattoos. You can see an example on the planet
now.
David Thomas took the initiative with case badges and they are in the
process of being shipped. This is another one of those projects that like
tattoos has long been on our todo list.
I am really thrilled that these guys, even though they are relatively new,
are taking ownership of some of these things and making things happen.

I added the podcasts to the page -- as for the screenshot tour, I'm
worried about smashing the server on which J5 and Luke are currently
working, so I didn't link that. We can add it once the app is
deployed where the load is handled better, though.

Fedora 11 and Ext4: The Straight Bits
by Jack Aboutboul
Read the complete interview here:
http://jaboutboul.blogspot.com/2009/06/fedora-11-and-ext4-straight-bits.html
Let's face it--We're addicted! To files that is. More importantly, we
are addicted to the massively large and ever increasing storage devices
upon which we store those files. Make no mistake though, like any
addiction, storing content comes at a cost and usually those costs are
paid at the filesystem level. We all want more space and we all want
better performance when it comes to disk I/O and a junkie's wishlist
never ends.
Fedora 11, when released tomorrow, will be the first distribution to
boast the inclusion of ext4, the latest incarnation in the extended file
system family, as default. Ext4 brings with it support for larger
filesystems, larger single file size and many improvements in almost
every imaginable facet. Join me for an interview with Eric Sandeen,
renown file system hacker, Red Hat Engineer and Fedora Contributor as he
takes on a little trip down Filesystem Alley and explains what
filesystems are, where did they come from, why should we care and why
they along with Fedora 11 are prepping to take over the WOOOOORLD!
