Also this. Could you tell me more and give me some URL/articles for more details.

Re: [Ambassadors] Fedora 11 Release Parties
by Truong Anh Tuan
Hello Max,
I am currently the only one Fedora ambassador in Vietnam but I believe that I can organize the Release Party with support from you (ideas, funding, etc.), other ambassadors (ideas), my colleagues (all my company use Fedora) and my local communities (organizing).
I am currently member of HanoiLUG (http://www.hanoilug.org/).
I am the most active contributor for Fedora in HanoiLUG, the sponsor/maintainer for Fedora mirror here: http://virror.hanoilug.org/#fedora
We organized some similar parties for Ubuntu.
Some friends ask me that why we do not have similar party for Fedora. And that's here. I think some ideas could be reused.
I will make a schedule for this event and give you later.
Please also tell me step by step to get funding.
Kind regards,
Tuan

Subject: [Ambassadors] Fedora 11 Release Parties
Hi,
If you're interested in a Fedora 11 release event, please add your
information here, for tracking purposes.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Release_Party
As in the past, we'll make $100-$200 USD of budget available to help
seed the events and give organizers some funding to use at their
discretion. It will help tremendously if you are able to be reimbursed
via PayPal.
Possible ideas for Release Parties:
(1) Having a LiveUSB installfest, and having local mirrors so that
people can do local network installs.
(2) Sponsoring food & drinks at a LUG meeting, and having the "keynote"
talk of the night be about Fedora 11, what you do for Fedora, and how
others can contribute.
(3) If you are in an area with a number of Fedora contributors, get them
all together and just have a little troubleshooting session for others,
and do some random hacking on stuff, or just enjoy each other's company
and revel in the success of a release.
(4) Whatever you can imagine.
Thanks,
Max

Nor should Ubuntu users think this way, of course, but they'll have to address that themselves.

Sure. I totally agree.
That's why I am thinking about Fedora's advantages, NOT Ubuntu (or other distros)'s disadvantages.

But I ended up with -- and my distro of choice is -- Fedora because of the quality and innovation, the camaraderie within those working on it (pointing to all of you), and the dedication of those of us involved are intangible qualities that make Fedora superior.

Also, thank all of you for your suggestions and ideas.
I will push and tell you back later.

Fedora Brasil Magazine - 5th Edition
by Rodrigo Padula de Oliveira
============== Fedora Brasil Magazine - 5th Edition ===================
It’s an absolute pleasure for Projeto Fedora Brasil (Brazilian Fedora
Project) to announce that the 5th edition of our magazine is available
for download.
In this number, we’ve made a special approach to Office Suite
BrOffice.org and have been presented with a special editorial written by
Gustavo Pacheco, charter member of BrOffice.org. We would also like to
introduce the series BrOffice.org for advanced users. For those who want
to know all its potential, it’s time to start your collection.
As usual, we’ve chosen a very interesting game: Secret Maryo Chronicles
is a pretty special remake of a classic game that everyone knows, it
will certainly please even the most demanding players.
Neither GNOME nor KDE, we invite you to know Enlightenment, which
promises to turn your desktop into a work of art, and we also talked to
Professor Gregory Kriehn, of the Engineering Department, at California
State University – and the father of the repository of Enlightenment for
Fedora.
Igor Soares analyses, in a clarifying way, the complex situation of
closed drivers in the Linux world, the lessons on Shell Script have
finally moved from the introductory phase, and now the person in charge
is Fabiano Caixeta Duarte.
Is anything missing? How about our first comic strips?

[Event Report] FLISoL Caracas 2009
by María Leandro
Hello everyone.
As many of you know, I was a main organizer of Flisol Caracas this
year, and also worked with the local Fedora Team on their
presentation.
The Flisol had an estimated attendance of 1700 people, including 100
installers, 15 protocol and 15 sponsors. We had a hard day with 8
conferences and 12 workshops; as well as the first National tournament
of UrbanTerror (a freeware game) and a gpg key sign fest. At the
closing, we had the StarWars Club (Darth Vader and one StormTrooper)
playing around with the guys.
Fedora Venezuela installed a lot of machines and gave out 300
LiveDVDs, 50 bubble stickers and 50 vinyl stickers; and the users were
really happy with this. Pablo Hernandez (paceh) gave a workshop about
Fedora-USB installations and I gave a Conference about the Fedora
Community in Venezuela, and found a lot of new users.
I also want to say that we had two major interviews, one on national
radio and another on national tv (globovision) and in both of them,
Fedora was the centre of attention. This is really good...
Next year I'll be the National Organizer and I hope to set up the
first Fedora Venezuela General Meeting with all the fedora users in
the country. In the mean time, we'll have some workshops at several
universities, some stands at national conferences (3 stands) and a
special "B-day" for our community.
These are some of the photos... but I'm still waiting for more, and
the video of the TV appearance.
