Fedora 11 Release Party: wageningen NL
by Yaakov Nemoy
Hey All,
Alex and i have scheduled a release party for Wageningen on the 12th. You can find more information here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora11Wau
We'll be having a gezellig barbeque, install fest, hackfest around the camp fire, and as much beer as you can drink. We can also arrange for a place for you to stay if you're coming from 'verwegistan' (very far away), or if you prefer, you can just camp outside, so bring your tent and sleeping bag.
Hope to see you there!

Possible Upcoming events in Wageningen NL
by Yaakov Nemoy
Hey List,
I want to let you all know about a couple of events we are hoping to
plan in Wageningen this summer. As it turns out, we have the highest
concentration of Ambassadors (3 of them) in the Netherlands in
Wageningen. For a sleepy student town of 35k people, it's quite an
accomplishment.
(Now only if we could have such a density of Ambassadors in the entire NL...)
The first upcoming possibility is a Release Party, the friday after
the Fedora 11 release. There are a few options available, but they run
along the lines of come to Wageningen and enjoy a couple of beers with
us. This could either be, weather permitting in someone's backyard,
complete with 100mbit internet, a campfire, and a nice LAN, or perhaps
at one of the many nice bars in Wageningen. Free beer is nice, but
we've set up similar events in Wageningen before at a very low cost to
all.
The next event in planning is to set up a Linux booth at one of the
fairs in august for the incoming students. This would be a great
chance to showcase scientific apps as well as how effective Fedora can
be for the university student. Since this is an event supported by
students, it's also very low cost, and we'll probably end up doing
most of it out of pocket. We'll try to provide up to date respins at
the booth, and try to follow it up with another Lan Party / Install
Fest.
We'll have more details after we can sit down this weekend in person
and work out the details.
Cheers,
Yaakov

Media and Content for next week 6/1-6/8
by Jack Aboutboul
Hey All,
Seeing as that we slipped another week, I don't think we should stop the
barrage of podcast and interviews that are coming out. There are a few
more topics that I think I can cover, and will present them here as a
sort of schedule for next week.
Again, for those of who are interested in doing a non-english podcast,
there were some good ideas and I think we should move ahead with some of
those. If you are seriously interested, please reply all to this email
with a proposal and outline. I will not be around Friday to help, but
will be back online on Sunday. Max, Paul and anyone else should be able
to help you. Paul put together a great tutorial on how to record a
podcast through fedora talk voip which can be found here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_make_a_podcast
My proposed topics for print interview and/or podcast are as follows:
Ext4 with Eric Sandeen
Thunderbird 3 with Chris Aillon
Fingerprint Auth with Bastein Nocera
20 Second Startup with Harald Hoyer
Please let me know what you think of those and if interested in doing a
non-english podcast.
Thanks,
Jack

Fedora 11: Virtual(ization) Reality
by Jack Aboutboul
Cutting edge virtualization technology has always been one of Fedora's
strong suits and Fedora 11 looks to continue that trend. In an interview
with Daniel P. Berrange, Red Hat Virt Team Engineer and Fedora
Virtualization guru, we talk about the many key upgrades to virt
technology in F11 focusing on areas of usability, performance and
security. Fedora 11 will premiere the latest in secure and powerful
virtualization technology available to users and developers. With so
much to look forward to Fedora 11, it's sure to make your virtualization
dreams a reality.

Connecticut film festival
by David Nalley
Just a ping to see if anyone is interested and close enough to
represent Fedora at the Connecticut Film Festival.
Why would you want to show off Fedora at a film festival? Well first
because there is a heavy free software content to begin with. I've
learned that people from Blender and FSF are already speaking, and
plan to have booths.
This would be a great opportunity to get in front of some creative
types and show off Fedora to a group that traditionally we wouldn't be
able to get in front of, and perhaps to recruit some talent for the
recently rebooted design team.

Help me: Fedora vs. Ubuntu
by Truong Anh Tuan
Hi all,
Most of People in our community are crazy with Ubuntu.
I know Fedora is much better and I am thinking about a campaign to change their mind.
First of all, I would like to write a full list of advantages in Fedora against Ubuntu (in our language, Vietnamese, of course).
Could you please help me some good sources and ideas (both for the advantage list and the full process to change their mind).
Kind regards,
Tuan
