Free Media Distribution
by Hisham Abdel-Magid
Dear all,
I'm a civil engineer currently in Doha, Qatar .. while promoting for fedora
i usually face a direct request for Fedora Live CDs from my colleagues ..
Currently, i'm handling it by burning CDs/DVDs on my own laptop, and i print
the Sleve cover using a coloured printer on normal A4 paper and then crop it
where necessary ...
To be frank with you, i am not happy with the end result when it comes to
the CD it self (bcuz it still says "Sony CD-R" ^_^) ... anyhow, that's the
limit of my humble budget for now ...
and I did not join the FreeMadia Programme bcuz of this "poor" end-result
...
Therefore, I would be much obliged if someone advise my about where/whom to
contact for requesting Fedora Live CDs in order to distribute them here in
Qatar... or at least how can i get some decent-looking FedoraCD's Physical
Art?..
Thanks in advance
~hish

Speakers needed for Community Learning Programs at Birla Institute of Technology
by Debjit Saha
Hey All!
Birla Institute of Technology (www.bitmesra.ac.in) is a premier
engineering college located in Mesra which is around 25 Kms from
Ranchi - The state capital of Jharkhand (Formerly a part of Bihar). We
organize a year round event consisting of Lectures and Workshops under
the banner of Community Learning Programs. The audience for these
workshops and lectures include students, teachers and IT
proffessionals from Ranchi area. This year we are planning to hold
better lectures and workshops especially in the field of Linux
administration, Networking and Virtualization. We already have had a
good number of workshops on Linux with the help of the student
community of our college but it would be better to have them conducted
by experts :-).For this purpose we need good and knowledgeable
speakers who can come to the campus of Birla Institute of Technology
and give talks and conduct workshops. The travelling costs of the
visiting speakers (from India) will be covered by us and will be
provided with standard boarding and lodging facilities in the Campus
Guest house.
cheers,

Fedora for Linux Newbies
by Frank Murphy
I have occasionally seen it said,
that Fedora should not be installed for
people, who have never come across Linux before.
I believe this to be an urban myth.
I have recently @Feb-March installed it to a laptop,
for someone who was exactly that, never heard of Linux.
He had a proprietry version of 2000 installed,
which was refusing to boot.
I suggested Fedora 10 to him, showed him my Laptop.
He was sold, has only called me once since.
How to copy photos over.
He is now telling his local pub friends, of Fedora Linux.
If you don't try, you will never know.
Just thought I'd share.
