A new community group
by CODE BRE@KER
Hi to all my fellow ambassadors , i have just made a new group at facebook,
the reason behind is that i want to activate the promotion and acknowledging
activities in Pakistan. which are not been updated , so i want all of you to
be suppportive and do participate in it, and especially all ambassadors from
Pakistan should join it and have a regular updating session here. so that we
all should be contacted and the combine efforts we could do, should be
planned..And all other ambassadors are to be invited , to join so they can
guide us, in this regard..

Active or Inactive
by Satyajit Ranjeev
Hi all,
I have been an ambassador for Fedora for the past one year. During
this time I have promoted fedora by conducting seminars and talking to
people about fedora. I have also provided many of them with fedora live
discs and installed it on their usbs. Now I have not been active on the
irc or the mailing list. Yet I am very passionate about fedora and have
been using it since fedora core 4. Does my stand make me an inactive
ambassador or an active one?

Fedora Pecha Kucha Hour
by inode0
This may be an off the wall idea but bear with me (flame me later if you want).
I recently ran across the pecha kucha[1][2] style of presentation and
began thinking about different aspects of it that I find appealing.
The short description of this style is that each presentation consists
of exactly 20 slides and each slide is displayed for exactly 20
seconds as the speaker talks. The entire presentation is 6 minutes and
40 seconds long. Period. So similar in length to a lightning talk but
visually more structured.
So what do I find appealing about this?
(1) Strict time limit - make an interesting point and sit down.
(2) With the 20 second per slide rule the role of the slides has to
change from traditional slide deck presentations. This I think lends
itself to encouraging the presenter to focus more on using slides for
visual support of his talk rather than for conveying written
information.
(3) Resulting from the strict timing the presenter needs to really
work on timing his talk to stay in sync with the slides. This forces a
focus on preparation that I think might also help focus the talk.
(4) Imagining myself in the audience I think I would find this highly
entertaining especially if done well. If not done well, it only last 6
minutes and 40 seconds.
As you think more about this style one can see it being more amenable
to certain sorts of subject matter but with imagination and cleverness
I think even quite technical material could be presented in this
format.
Where am I going with this? Well, in about 1 hour you could have
probably 6 or 7 of these talks. Are any of you uninhibited enough to
consider trying a Fedora themed pecha kucha hour at the Summit? I'm
thinking of a lead-off talk about Fedora which would briefly introduce
our four foundations followed by a talk about each of those four
foundations.

Location of a FA !
by Hisham Abdel-Magid
hello all ^_^
i have a Q...
when i signed to join FA i used to live and work in my home country (Sudan),
and i am the only FA there ... now i work in a different country (Qatar), in
which it appears that there is no ambassador yet. ...
so, my Q is: I do promote and assist about Fedora wherever i go and work,
but where shall I count my self? Sudan or Qatar? .. am i a FA in both? ..
if "Yes" i would be the "only" FA in either! .. if "No" then do i need to
re-submit for FAS account with the other country?! ...
i think i'm a bit confused :| ... (besides, i think those r more than one Q
^_^) ...
any sort of advise would be really appreciated
regards

Organize NA and EMEA IRC meeting
by Francesco Ugolini
Sometime ago, I was asked to help organizing a shared meeting with
EMEA and NA to share ideas about initiatives and have a better look at
each other.
I want to ask all the interest to think about it, once again, maybe
trying to find a time/date to make this important meeting happening.

Ok, so if you don't mind me borrowing this what about the presentation
being titled - One Laptop Per Child - What if...?
Synopsis - What if a community of educators could get together to
produce one single electronic 4th grade textbook?
Of course I'll cover history and mission of OLPC, but I'd like the talk
to focus on the NA Ambassadors work on the 4th grade math curriculum.
By then I also hope to have RIT on board and helping so I can show that
it's not just a hypothetical.
